Bag om 3 Visions of Sheherazade
Shéhérazade, as pure as beautiful, as wise as voluptuous, as powerful as indefectibly fragile, will have been set to music by Western composers: here are the adaptations of three of these famous visions.Colette Mourey is a guitarist, professor of music, researcher in musicology and French composer born in 1954. She studied musicology at the Sorbonne under the direction of Edith Weber and passed the aggregation. First a classical guitarist, student of the Uruguayan guitarist Oscar Caceres, she is also a pianist. As an Associate Professor, she teaches the writing, aesthetics and didactics of music at the University of Franche-Comté and at the Higher School of Teaching and Education. For her own works and researches, she started with the atonal music of her teacher Julien Falk, to develop a new musical system called "hypertonality". It is based on spiral scales (in amplitudes greater than the octave), radically transforming the techniques of atonal counterpoint. This allows the reintroduction of "natural sounding" in a contemporary language, which helps to bring contemporary music to the "general public". Having composed more than 1000 scores, she has won several First International Prizes ("Music and Earth", 2012), three Grand Prizes, from the IBLA Foundation (2012, 2013 and 2014) and "Fondazione Adkins Chiti - Donne in Musica" Mundial Selections, for "Abacus", "Variations sur l'Hymne Européen" and "Quintetto La Maestria". Colette Mourey is also a famous writer (musicology, aesthetic, ecology, education, novels ...).
