Bag om A Scottish Chronicle of War, Dynastic Feuds, Treason Plots and Assassinations (1286-1488)
The following book covers the period from 1286 to 1488, and examines the key characters and events that would carve out the path of Scottish history. Focus is concentrated on acts of violence and treachery that would either lead to war and instability, or would cause a change of government. As was the political nature of Scotland or perhaps any medieval nation, leaders were meant to be respected and feared, and their laws and instructions to be obeyed, but as often was the case there would be factions willing to question the fitness of a king, queen or regent to rule. During the period studied, a high percentage of rulers and royal heirs would meet with violent ends, or unexplained or unusual deaths, and conspiracy and treason plots became part of the political landscape.
