Velkommen til den første dansk-moderne hebraisk ordbog nogensinde. De 422 sider rummer over 24.000 opslagsord. Ordbogen indeholder ordforråd, som anvendes på moderne israelsk hebraisk, og som stammer fra det virkelige liv og fra den europæiske civilisations historie, specifikke skandinaviske gloser samt ord og begreber fra jødisk, israelsk og mellemøstlig kultur, religion og historie - og som anvendes akademisk, i litteratur og presse, på tv og i dagligdagens samtaler. Også egennavne. Ordbogen indeholder også lidt slang - og en vis del af ordforrådet stammer fra aramæisk, arabisk og jiddisch. Dette er en dansk ordbog, og som sådan følges de gængse genrekriterier for danske ordbøger - såvel som traditionen i hebraisk grammatik. Det er forfatterens håb, at denne ordbog vil være befordrende for opbyggeligt samvirke mellem folk, sprog og kulturer samt være et gavnligt værktøj for studerende, fagfolk, rejsende og alle andre.

Dette er både en grammatik og en lærebog. Grammatikdelen er en systematisk sprog-beskrivelse der kan bruges af både begyndere og viderekomne. Lærebogs-delen forudsætter ingen hebraisk-kundskaber og består af en samling øvelsestekster der i stigende sværhedsgrad beskriver alle almindelige fænomener i bibelsk hebraisk grammatik og introducerer det centrale ordforråd. Cand.theol., ph.d. Flemming A.J. Nielsen har udgivet en bog og en række artikler om den hebraiske bibel. Han har undervist på Københavns Universitet i flere år.Cand.mag., ph.d. Martin Ehrensvärd har skrevet bredt om sproglige emner i bibelsk hebraisk. Han har undervist i sproget på universiteter i Danmark og Israel siden 1990. Han arbejder i dag primært med kommunikation.
