Fortællingen om Flora Danica er historien om et af verdens mest ambitiøse værker om planternes rige. Sat i verden af Frederik V og gennem intet mindre end 122 år skabt i samarbejde mellem videnskabsfolk, kobbertrykkere og tegnere. Tusindvis af blomster, alger, mosser og svampe blev tegnet og trykt til et enestående værk om kongeriget Danmarks vilde natur.250 udvalgte plancher giver et indblik i værkets rigdom og bredde og viser, hvor unikt dette nationale naturvidenskabelige hovedværk er.

Pileflet er en smuk og æstetisk bog med over 20 projekter – blandt andet brødkurve, bakker, hegn, kurve og forskellige pyntegenstande. Naturlige materialer bliver den dag i dag stadig brugt til at skabe smukke brugsting i hjemmet, og pileflet er ingen undtagelse. Pilefletter Jenny Crisp fortæller dig her nogle af de vigtigste ting, man bør vide, hvis man ønsker at prøve pileflet, og viser mange smukke projekter, der passer til både nybegynderen og den øvede pilefletter.Pileflet er nemt at gå til og kræver ikke avancerede redskaber. Teknikkerne er nemme at følge med de enkle trin for trin-instruktioner, og man får tilmed viden om, hvordan man selv dyrker pil.

En krans i blomster og materialer fra naturen er et af de ældste blomster-kunsthåndværk. Du bruger den måske selv mest til jul på døren eller til adventskransen – eller når der skal lægges noget smukt på en grav hos dem, du mindes. Men kransen kan du lige så godt binde eller dekorere, når du skal dække bordet til gæsterne, når du vil have noget af den dejlige natur på som smykke i håret eller om håndleddet som armbånd, eller når du vil hænge noget smukt på væggen. Maleren Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916) tilhørte det radikale danske borgerskab omkring år 1900. Han var hele livet tæt knyttet til sin familie, og især hustruen Ida, hans søster Anna og familiens boliger var hans foretrukne motiver. Mest kendte er hans mange interiørbilleder fra Strandgade 30, holdt i en farveskala af gråt, grønt og rødbrunt. Især ’Åbne døre. Strandgade 30’ har fået ikonisk karakter. Men han malede også landskabsbilleder og skibsmotiver, og på Davids Samling nydes udsøgte eksempler på alle temaer.I bogen fortæller forfatteren Henrik Wivel, dr.phil., kritiker ved Kristeligt Dagblad og tidligere kulturredaktør ved Weekendavisen og Berlingske Tidende, indlevende om Hammershøis liv og kunst som baggrund for en fortolkning af kunstnerens værk, og de 15 malerier på Davids Samling analyseres indgående. Vi får også historien om stifteren af Davids Samling, sagfører og kunstsamler C.L. David (1878-1960), og hvordan han omskabte ejendommen i Kronprinsessegade 30 til en enestående samling af malerier og interiører.

Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2018 in the subject Biology - Miscellaneous, grade: 82% Aggregate In Bachelor, , course: Bachelor In Agriculture, language: English, abstract: The present research consists of 12 rice genotypes and the experiment was conducted during June- November, 2017 in Randomized Block Design with three replication at NARC, Kumaltar.The data were recorded for ten quantitative character to study genetic variability, heritability, genetic advance and correlation coefficient analysis. Analysis of variance among 12 genotypes showed significant difference for all characters studied except non- effective tiller. Grain yield had positive significant correlation with SPAD and positive correlation with 1000 grain weight, flag leaf area, days of 50% flowering, plant height, number of effective tiller and panicle length and negative significant correlation with number of non-effective tiller and negative correlation with days of 90%maturity. Moderate genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) and phenotypic coefficient variation (PCV) was observed for flag leaf area and followed by grain yield and number of effective tiller, that these characters could be used as selection for crop improvement. High estimates of heritability were observed for days of 50% flowering and followed by panicle length, flag leaf area, test weight and days of 90% maturity. High genetic advance were found in number of non effective tiller, grain yield per meter square, no of effective tiller and flag leaf area indicating pre-dominance of additive gene effects and possibilities of effective selection for the improvement of these characters.

This publication is devoted to an extensive description of the pneumopteria which are also referred to as cloud whales or cloud sponges, and occasionally, in scientific language, as pneumospongia. Often, in older treatises, they have been termed celestial leviathans. These gigantic, cloud-like creatures, which seemed to float in the air without movement or stimulation, could reach several hundred meters in size. In all likelihood, they are extinct today. The species was, however, frequently observed in historical times and has been described by numerous cultures and in many different contexts.With his research findings, Roland Boden provides the first thorough introduction to the nature, appearance, and behavior of the pneumopteria and surveys the history of their exploration and description. In his treatise, defined as fictional research, Boden uses quotations, photographs, reproductions, reconstructive drawings, and computer-generated images, combining real scientific and historical facts with completely fictitious elements to create a parallel reality that cleverly and artistically questions contemporary perceptual processes.

Master's Thesis from the year 2009 in the subject Biology - Ecology, Mekelle University, language: English, abstract: P. juliflora is a powerful invader equipped with a number of special features that promote its rapid invasion of new areas. This invasive species is currently becoming a problematic weed in Ethiopia, especially in Afar Regional State. The objective of the study was to analyse the invasion rate of P. juliflora through detection LULUC using multi-temporal Landsat imagery data obtained in 1973, 1987, 1999 and 2004. A field survey was conducted to analyse impacts of invasion, to identify management techniques which reduce the invasion and re-invasion of P. juliflora and to fill the information gap that arise from the imagery analysis.This study then reveals, over the period of 31 years, LULCC in relation to P. juliflora invasion was changed significantly. The annual invasion rate of P. juliflora during 1973-1987,1987-1999 and 1999-2004 was 5.61 km2/annum, 0.80 km2/annum and 3.95 km2/annum respectively. The average annual invasion rate was 3.45km2/annum. This study also indicated that, 121.66 km2 (23.04%), 128.56 square kilometres (24.35%),145.81 square kilometres (27.62%) and 163.064 square kilometres (30.89%) of the study area would be under P. juliflora by the year 2008, 2010, 2015 and 2020 respectively, if proper controlling measures are not taken without delay. Invasion of P. juliflora causes loss of biodiversity and ecological service, affect livelihood of the pastoralist and agro-pastoralist, crop production and human health. If properly managed it shows positive implication on the soil amelioration, micro-climate and income generation for charcoal makers. But the pastoralist and agro-pastoralist call for its eradication because under the current management system the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. Management techniques explored was clearing and digging out of the root system below 10-30 cm from the ground, seedling uprooting with continuous follow-up during wet season, utilization of P. juliflora as a resource by making charcoal, pod collection and crushing; since livestock is the main dispersal agent of the species. To ensure the successfulness and sustainability of management techniques, commitment, participation and continuous follow up of the community and different stakeholders should be given more focus to control the invasion and re-invasion of P. juliflora.

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2019 in the subject Biology - Botany, grade: A, , course: Biology, language: English, abstract: This study reviews the utilization of alien plant invaders in Nigeria, with a view to recommending these plants to Nigerians considering their utilization potential. The overall aim of this research project is reflected in the following research questions: How does educational awareness have impact on the utilization of plant invaders? What was the utilization of alien plants invasions? How does climate change and variability aid the invasion of alien species? How do alien plant invaders affect the economic, recreational and environmental uses?Invasive alien species have been introduced to Nigeria from different parts of the world both intentionally and unintentionally and they are affecting indigenous plants and animal communities. The intentional spread has been a result of ongoing and increasing human redistribution of species to support agriculture, forestry, mariculture, horticulture and recreation. This supplies a continuous pool of species from which invasive aliens are recruited.The invasive alien species were also introduced as commercial plants or ornamental garden plants. Invasions also occurred countrywide as a result of seed introductions, of tree and shrub clearing for pasture and grazing infestations. The unintentional introductions of IAPs include disease organisms, agricultural weeds and insect pests. However, they were broughtwithout their natural enemies, which results in these plants reproducing copiously.

Serien LEG OG LÆR er udarbejdet som en del af projektet "Økologi i børnehøjde", i Det økologiske Inspirationshus på Frederiksberg. Projektet var delvist finansieret af Velux Fonden. Projektet udviklede børns handlekompetence omkring økologi og bæredygtighed, og var særligt målrettet 0. – 4. klassetrin, og undervisningen i faget Natur og Teknologi, hvortil de var godkendt af Undervisningsministeriet. Med sit innovative, særlige didaktiske design, var projektet en stor succes. Læringshæfterne i serien LEG OG LÆR følger op på idéerne i projektet, og er med til at forankre disse, men kan også benyttes som selvstændigt undervisningsmateriale til de enkelte emner.

Vilhelm Hammershøi (1864-1916) was a member of the radical Copenhagen middle class at the turn of last century. He maintained close ties to his family throughout his life, and especially his wife, Ida, his sister, Anna, and the family’s homes were his favorite motifs. The best-known are his many interiors from Strandgade 30, kept to a palette of gray, green, and russet. Hammershøi also painted landscapes and portraits, however, and the David Collection has exquisite examples of all these genres.In Hammershøi in the David Collection, the Hammershøi expert Henrik Wivel writes empathetically about the artist’s life and art and provides an in-depth study of the 14 pieces in the David Collection in relation to his life and times. The book moreover presents the story of the founder of the David Collection, Christian Ludvig David (1878-1960), a lawyer by profession, and how he transformed the building at Kronprinssegade 30 into a unique art collection.
