Objektorienteret analyse og design (OOA&D) er i 1øbet af 1990-erne blevet den dominerende metode til beskrivelse af edb-baserede systemer. Med denne bog har vi søgt at give en bredt anvendelig fremstilling af OOA&D på dansk. Vores metode er på en gang original og gennemprøvet. Metoden præsenterer et nyt samlet syn på analyse og design, som gør det let for læserenat forstå disse vigtige aktiviteter som en helhed. Mange enkeltdele i metoden stammer dog fra andre metoder. Vi har omhyggeligt udvalgt de dele, som har vist sig at fungere bedst i praksis.Vi har tilstræbt at give en samlet fremstilling af centrale principper. Analyse og design håndteres ellers ofte fragmenteret. Udformningen af edb-systemets logiske kerne er traditionelt styret af funktionelle overvejelser og præget af litteraturen om programmering og modellering. Udformningen af bruger-grænsefladen og interaktionen med omgivelserne er styret af brugsmæssige overvejelser og primært behandlet i litteraturen om menneske-maskin interaktion og brugervenlighed. Designet af systemets arkitektur er ofte kun styret af tekniske overvejelser. I denne bog ser vi på alle væsentlige sider af analyse og design. Bogens fire centrale dele gennemgår systematisk edb-systemets problemområde, dets anvendelsesområde, dets arkitektur og dets komponenter.Vi har også tilstræbt at give en metodologisk fremstilling. Hovedvægten er lagt på principper, begreber og tænkemåder. Ofte er analyse- og design bøger bundet til en bestemt notation med tilhørende diagrammeringsteknikker og CASE-værktøjer. Det lægger op til ufrugtbare religions-krige, og det skaber afhængighed af specialiserede kommercielle produkter. I denne bog har vi som notation valgt Unified Modeling Language, UML, der er på vej til at blive standard på området. Dermed vil læseren få adgang til et stort udvalg af udviklingsværktøjer.Endelig har vi tilstræbt ikke at skrive en bog om objektorienteret programmering. Anvendelsen af OOA&D skaber klarhed over kravene til et edb-system og et kvalificeret grundlag for dets implementering. Men metoden forudsætter, at det fortsatte arbejde udføres af kompetente programmører, der kan udnytte faciliteterne i moderne programmeringsomgivelser til at opnå stor produk-tivitet og høj kvalitet. Vi anbefaler, at analysedokumentet skal indeholde en kortfattet, men komplet beskrivelse af kravene til systemet, og at designdokumentet skal være kortfattet, give overblik over systemets dele og deres samspil, og svare på de centrale designspørgsmål.OOA&D kan anvendes til praktisk systemudvikling og til undervisning. Bogens ene målgruppe er systemudviklere, der ønsker støtte til indførelse af objektorienteret teknologi eller inspiration til personlig faglig udvikling. Den anden målgruppe er studerende på datamatiker-, datalogi- og dataingeniøruddannelserne, samt studerende på andre uddannelser, der kræver praktisk og teoretisk færdighed i systemudvikling.

Dennis Scholl uses repetition. Though he does not always paint the same picture, he repeatedly returns to the same point. The terrain he passes through could be a dream landscape from a night twenty years ago. 'Landscape' is suggestive of nature, but the reality portrayed here seems fake. It is more of a park, in which nature has been replicated. And Scholl is not alone here. There are others whom he encounters over and over. But they are no ordinary passers-by; their faces seem like masks - indeed, some of them do wear masks. Are these creatures without expression? My impression is that there are certain arrangements in place within this loose community. Few things are self-evident here. For the most part, there seems to be more of a skirting around the edges of what is directly obvious. The fingers I would use to point at it would need to have more digits than I have on my hand. Den europæiske palet er nemlig ikke nogen almindelig bog om farver eller klassisk farvelære; ikke en videnskabelig redegørelse for farvernes forskellige pigmenter og kemiske sammensætninger eller for lysets spaltning; den er heller ikke en rendyrket systematisk, psykologisk, etymologisk eller kunsthistorisk gennemgang af farvebrug gennem tiden. Den er derimod lidt af det hele – skrevet med en kærlighed til farvens sprog og verden, en fascination, som er baseret på undersøgelser af både historiske kilder og Heibergs egen samtids omgivelser.
