This book retells the history of Israeli film in the 1960s and 1970s in sex scenes. Through close readings of the first sex scenes in mainstream Israeli movies from this period, it explores the cultural and social contexts in which these movies were made. More specifically, it discusses how notions of collective identity, individual agency, and the public and private spheres are inscribed into and negotiated in sex scenes, especially in light of the historical events that marked these decades. This study thus pushes away from the traditional academic perception of Israeli film and opens up new ways of understanding how it has developed in recent decades. It draws on a growing international body of academic literature on the cinematic representation of sex in order to illuminate the particularities of the Israeli context in the 1960s and 1970s. Apart from film scholars and scholars of Israeli film, this study also addresses readers interested in Israeli cultural history more broadly.

Sie thematisiert deren kollektive Erinnerungen, aktuelle Anliegen, Visionen und Perspektiven in Installationen, Videos, Performances und Fotografien. Vor dem Hintergrund ihrer eigenen Biografie konzentriert sich Rigová in ihrem OEuvre der vergangenen Jahre auf die Geschichte sowie die Gegenwartserfahrungen der Roma und deren eigene wie fremdbestimmte Identitätsbilder. Ihre Arbeiten basieren auf gesellschaftsbezogener Forschung und Analyse und sind mitunter als Performances und Installationen im öffentlichen Raum auch als Formen von politischem Aktivismus zu verstehen. The Cinepoetics book series aims at a theoretical and analytical reconceptualization of the discursivity of audiovisual images. The focus is not on the circulation of media representations but on the modes of this circulation: How do audiovisual images as figurations of media experience relate to other audiovisual images? What does it mean to describe different modes of audiovisual experience and recursivity as forms of cinematic thinking? Animations accompanies the first museum exhibition to focus on the films and videos of the acclaimed contemporary German artist and photographer Thomas Demand (born 1964). Demand is best known for his large-scale color photographs of objects or sites taken from images in the popular media, which he painstakingly reconstructs in paper. With these new films and videos, Demand has taken this practice to the next stage, extending his investigations in to real time and space by animating his paper constructions. The primary focus of the volume is the two-minute tour de force video entitled "Pacific Sun," which takes place in a cruise ship bar during a violent storm at sea. This volume--the first to survey Demand's films and videos--brings these latest works back full circle, but as video stills. Also included is a major essay on the artist by the acclaimed photo critic Michael Fried.

Dabei wird dem Verhältnis von Wirklichkeit und Illusion in Walls Arbeit besondere Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet. Im Zuge der Arbeit soll zum einen auf die entstehungstechnischen Hintergründe von Walls Arbeit eingegangen werden, um deren Bezug und Relevanz für die Vermittlung und Aufdeckung eines tieferen Symbolismus in den Aufnahmen scheinbar trivialer Alltagsszenen aufzuzeigen. Zum anderen soll ebenfalls die Rolle des Rezipienten für Walls Spiel mit dessen Wahrnehmung dargestellt werden.Im Fokus der Arbeit steht dabei, mit welchen Mitteln es Wall in seinen fotografischen Arbeiten gelingt, die Grundstrukturen menschlicher Gesellschaft und deren archetypische Verhaltensmuster darzustellen und nicht zuletzt Kritik an diesen zu üben. Daher muss im Zuge dieser Arbeit auf eine Darstellung Walls früherer konzeptueller und fotojournalistischer Werke verzichtet werden, da es sich bei diesen nicht um Inszenierungen handelt und sie somit für die Beantwortung der Fragestellung nicht relevant sind.
