Mobility, Space, and Resistance: Transformative Spatiality in Literary and Political Discourse draws from various disciplines-such as geography, sociology, political science, gender studies, and poststructuralist thought-to posit the productive capabilities of literature in political action and at the same time show how literary art can resist the imposition and domination of oppressive systems of our spatial lives. The various approaches, topics, and types of literature discussed in this volume display a concern for social issues that can be addressed in and through literature. The essays address social injustice, oppression, discrimination, and their spatial representations. While offering interpretations of literature, this collection seeks to show how literary spaces contribute to understanding, changing, or challenging physical spaces of our lived world.
Der vorliegende Band untersucht das Zusammenwirken von Bergdarstellungen und Traumnarrativen in Literatur und Film aus epochen- und kulturraumübergreifender sowie intermedialer Perspektive. Dabei soll der Traum in seiner ganzen semantischen Spannweite in den Fokus gerückt werden, denn die komplexe Hybridisierung von Schlaftraum, Tagträumerei und Wunschtraum scheint im Kontext von Bergnarrativen besonders sinnstiftend. Gleichzeitig wird durch die Analyse ästhetischer Bergdarstellungen in onirischen Narrativen eine Re-Evaluierung etablierter Bergtopoi angestrebt. So soll die spezifische Wissens- und Kulturpoetik der Berg-Traum-Narrative herausgestellt werden. Zwischen Selbstfindung und Entfremdung, Fiktion und Referenzialität, rückwärtsgewandter Traumabewältigung und zukunftsgerichtetem Sehnsuchtsraum konstituieren sich ästhetische Darstellungen von 'Traumbergen' und 'Bergträumen' regelmäßig durch eine ambivalente, dialektische Logik, die es zu untersuchen gilt.

Pacific Literatures as World Literature is a conjuration of trans-Pacific poets and writers whose work enacts forces of "becoming oceanic" and suggests a different mode of understanding, viewing, and belonging to the world. The Pacific, past and present, remains uneasily amenable to territorial demarcations of national or marine sovereignty. At the same time, as a planetary element necessary to sustaining life and well-being, the Pacific could become the means to envisioning ecological solidarity, if compellingly framed in terms that elicit consent and inspire an imagination of co-belonging and care. The Pacific can signify a bioregional site of coalitional promise as much as a danger zone of antagonistic peril. With ground-breaking writings from authors based in North America, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Hawaii, and Guam and new modes of research - including multispecies ethnography and practice, ecopoetics, and indigenous cosmopolitics - authors explore the socio-political significance of the Pacific and contribute to the development of a collective effort of comparative Pacific studies covering a refreshingly broad, ethnographically grounded range of research themes. This open access book uses Swedish literature and the Swedish publishing field as recurring examples todescribe and analyse the role of the literary semi-peripheral position in world literature from various perspectives and on meso, micro and macro levels, using both quantitative and qualitative methods. This includes the role of translation in the semi-periphery and the conditions under which literature travels to and from that position. The focus is not on Sweden, as such, but rather on the semi-peripheral transitional space as exemplified by the Swedish case. Consisting of three co-written chapters, this study sheds light on what might be called the semi-peripheral condition or the semi-periphery as an area of transition. As part of the Cosmopolitan and Vernacular Dynamics in World Literatures series, it makes continuous use of the concepts of 'cosmopolitan' and 'vernacular' - or rather, the processual terms, cosmopolitanization and vernacularization - which provide an overall structure to the analysis of literature and literary phenomena. Die vorliegende Arbeit befasst sich mit der transnationalen Dimension der Kanonisierung von Literatur im Rahmen der griechisch-sowjetischen Literaturbeziehungen. Teil der sowjetischen ideologischen Expansion war auch ein Konzept von Weltliteratur, mithilfe dessen ein normatives ästhetisches Programm exportiert und eine ,Internationale des Geistes' etabliert werden sollte. Die Arbeit betrachtet die Übersetzung und Publikation neugriechischer Literatur in der Sowjetunion als Unterprojekt des sowjetischen Kultur- und Weltliteraturprojekts und erkundet anhand dieses literarhistorischen Fallbeispiels dessen Wege und Realisierungsstrategien. Den Forschungsgegenstand der Arbeit bilden Rezeption, Übersetzung, Publikation und Präsentation neugriechischer Literatur in der Sowjetunion in Hinblick auf narrative Strategien, Übersetzungspraktiken und Vermittlungsaktivitäten. Die Arbeit, die sowohl eine narratologische als auch eine literaturpragmatische Dimension von Kanonisierung in den Blick nimmt und sich weitgehend auf unveröffentlichtes Archivmaterial stützt, stellt die erste systematische komparatistische Untersuchung des bis dato unkartierten Bereichs der griechisch-sowjetischen Literatur- und Übersetzungsgeschichte dar.
