"She may be strong, but she's not unbreakable. July Tate is a force to be reckoned with-a big, strong blond with a heart the size of her whole town--but beneath her capable exterior lie the scars of a devastating lost love. To July, love equals vulnerability, and she can't afford either. Joe Anderson knew from the first moment he saw her that July was The One. Now, after years apart, he's back, driven by the need to explain his disappearance. In search of the girl who filled his teenage dreams, he finds instead a powerhouse woman who steals his heart and soul. Joe embodies everything July has been missing, and together they spark as brightly as ever. But with Joe around, July, who can usually outwork four men is suddenly making mistakes right and left. And that scares her. Because if July falls again, this time her beloved town could go down with her. Readers of Olivia Dade, Talia Hibbert, and Lucy Score will adore this sexy Southern small town contemporary romance between a cinnamon roll hero and a plus size heroine looking for a second chance at love"--
"As the summer of 1993 begins, Sam and Swami Brecht roll into town with a twenty-six-foot Winnebago camper van, their three young kids, and the deed to Woodchuck Rafting Company. Sam and Swami met as young, adventurous river guides but, a decade later, find themselves weighed down by money worries and the demands of adulthood. The town of Thunderwater, in Wisconsin's Northwoods, could be the fresh start their marriage needs. But Woodchuck, once the property of Sam's eccentric uncle, has seen better days and will need a serious overhaul if it is going to stand a chance at survival. Soon Sam and Swami learn they are not the only ones looking for change and profit on the river. A competing rafting outfit, clashing raft guides, stubborn townsfolk, and an exploratory mining company begin to threaten their tenuous livelihood. Then nature intervenes, in the form of historic floods throughout the Midwest. Amid tumultuous currents both on and off the river, Sam and Swami struggle to maintain the new life they've built. Before the summer draws to a close, the Brechts must learn to face the floodwaters together in order to create a sustainable future for their family, the town, and the pristine river from which it all flows."--
SHALL BE A BRIDGE brings together a selection of Keith Shein's longer, serial poems written over the last decades. Often composed while travelling, the poems range from Paris to the banks of California's Trinity River, and from the beaches of Pacific Grove to Texas towns. The poems' concerns range just as broadly, addressing love, economics, work, intimacy over distances, and the politics of living in a large, populous country. SHALL BE A BRIDGE is a poetry of finding place.
This sixty-second Prism anthology will provide some quiet space for reflection, places to stroll through, times to go back to, memories to share, tales of interesting people to get acquainted with, seasonal poems to enjoy, and more...

New York Times & USA Today bestselling author Lorhainne Eckhart returns with a Friessen family character who must come to terms with unfinished business and long-buried hurts-not just for her family but for herself. She'd never even invited him in.The man had walked in and taken over, still ordering her around, and what had she done? Nothing. She'd shrunk back into that young woman without a voice. In Laura Friessen's peaceful, comfortable world, her family is everything, and at times she has to remind herself how lucky she is. These days, she gives barely a passing thought to her unsupportive, hypocritical parents or to her husband's father, who, as far as she's concerned, is a scourge on the earth. Good riddance to them all! However, her world comes crashing down in a single day. First, her husband's father shows up on their doorstep without a penny to his name, believing Laura is solely responsible for his misfortune in life. Then an article appears online about her parents, who run a church mission in Africa and are portrayed as saints, with no mention of them ever having a daughter. Last, a courier arrives with an envelope addressed to her, with no return address, containing only three words: You owe me!Laura believes this is Andy's father's pathetic attempt at revenge, at extracting what he believes he's entitled to. She knows that if they let Todd Friessen through the door, he'll attempt to manipulate not only Andy but also their children and grandchildren, who don't know the man who now wants to be called Grandfather.Unfortunately, what Laura doesn't realize is that even though she has an amazing life, before she can move forward into her future, she has to confront her past.

Evening Standard
Excavations from a Blue Room is a collection of three stories that were written over a twenty year period. True to archaeological form, the first is the most recent. Entitled The Twelve Days of Christmas, it is somewhat of anti-love song, and involves two tortured teens who have a serious communication break-down. The second story, Some Random Thoughts on Death and Dying needs no further introduction; the title says it all. The final offering, A Society of Strangers, is perhaps the sweetest of the lot. In it, a middle aged woman brakes for a good looking hitch-hiker and ends up on a wild romantic tangent that pushes her views on the nature of reality itself. Bundled together, the stories make a tight and unusual package. It was as if they were waiting for each other through the decades for the time when they could be joined together. All it took was digging up the bones and presenting them under the same roof. Let's just call it Exhibit A for short.

Pearls of the Orient is an ode to the banh mi sandwich and the women who make it possible ... the cultural mosaic of Kuala Lumpur ... the life of the indefatigable 10 Rupee note ... the liquid colors coursing thru Shanghai's neon veins ... how India's roads flow like rivers, and the immaculate beauty which dots their banks. You will find odes to laundry day in China's cities and an onomatopoeia of CNY fireworks ... plus the dangerous threats lurking in Thai kitchens ... the stonework and artistry of India's Taj Mahal; the epic jeweled love letter ... how the monkeys of Agra do things ... the intricacies of incense arranging in Vietnamese shrines ... and how the first Buddha relics found their way from Nepal into an ancient Mon kingdom, and into a monolithic gem-studded, gold-plated temple.
On its original publication in 2000, Pitch & Glint was widely hailed as a landmark in German poetry. Rooted in Seiler's childhood home, an East German village brutally undermined by Soviet Russian uranium extraction, these propulsive poems are highly personal, porous, twisting, cadenced, cryptic and earthy, traversing the rural sidelines of European history with undeniable evocative force. The frailty of bodies, a nearness to materials and manual work, the unknowability of our parents' suffering, and ultimately the loss of childhood innocence, all loom large in poems where sound comes first. As Seiler says in an essay, "You recognise the song by its sound. The sound forms in the instrument we ourselves have become over time. Before every poem comes the story that we have lived. The poem catches the sound of it. Rather than narrating the story, it narrates its sound."
"Steka lives around the world and far away and yet, his words struck in close to my heart. We speak different languages and yet, I understood his message. Our experiences are very different and exactly the same . . ."
"Weave Me a Crooked Basket is an unconventional love story featuring a makeshift coalition of farmers, artists, scientists and community members who turn a small organic farm into a work of art to save it from unscrupulous developers. Facing bankruptcy, Ursula Tunder and her polar-opposite-brother, Bodie, along with their eco-artist adopted-cousin, Nu, enlist a ragtag troupe of land-defenders in a festival of resistance"--
