This work critically examines diversity, discrimination, and inclusion in the English-speaking Caribbean nations, with a specific emphasis on persons with disabilities. The chapters include an evaluative analysis on the extant theoretical and empirical literature on persons with disabilities in employment, exploring the nature of their disability, the role of information technology in gaining and retaining employment, and an analysis of the laws and relevant policies which prohibit the discrimination against persons with disabilities in the Caribbean region. Though the enactment of legislation outlawing the discrimination of persons with disabilities is not widespread in the Caribbean, a few select territories have taken positive steps towards recognition of the need to achieve inclusion of persons with disabilities and accept the diversity of the Caribbean populace. After exploring the general state of disability and discrimination in the Caribbean region, the authors analyze workplace accommodations provided to persons with disability, particularly as relations to IT and assistive devices, before focusing on workplace stigmas related to mental health disability and employment law.In addition to literature-based analyses, the book includes qualitative case studies, with the goal of providing benchmarks in organizational responses to employees with disabilities. Further, the authors highlight lessons to be learned from other countries in addressing inequality in the workplace for disabled persons. With its analysis of employment as well as socio-economic and legal issues, this interdisciplinary text will serve as a useful resource in not only understanding the organizational challenges faced by persons with disabilities in the region but also the necessary legislation needed to address discriminatory practices on a wider scale.
Der Begriff der Produktivität findet täglich Verwendung, um die eigene Leistung zu bewerten. Darin, so die These, zeigt sich ein problematisches Verhältnis zur eigenen Tätigkeit. Denn was bedeutet Produktivität?
This book continues the discussion from the first four volumes on the challenges that organizations face in order to implement sustainability, ethics, and effective corporate governance, all of which are important elements of ¿standing out¿ from other companies. Examining the background of the New European Consensus on development with the new guiding motto ¿Our World, Our Dignity, Our Future,¿ the authors explore how this new legislation on sustainability issues around the world is forcing companies to deal directly with sustainability issues. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda), adopted by the United Nations in September 2015, is the international community¿s response to global challenges and trends in connection with sustainable development. With the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at its core, the 2030 Agenda is a transformative political framework designed to eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable development globally. It balances the economic, social, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development, including the key issues of governance and peaceful and inclusive societies, and recognizes the essential interlinkages between its goals and targets, i.e., that they must be implemented as a whole and not selectively. The respective chapters in this volume raise a number of questions regarding corporate social responsibility, ethics, and corporate governance in the face of new technology and new approaches to climate change and sustainability reporting.
Doing Good with Money is not your typical book about money. It's not about how to earn more, save more, or invest with better results. It's about how to do good in the world with the money you have - whether a little or a lot. Do you want your spending to align with your values? Your bank or credit card to support your community? And investments you make to make a meaningful difference? This book provides a framework for telling us how. It's both a handbook and a deeper dive into ideas many of us have heard of but may not fully understand, like: fair trade, buy local, ESG, and effective altruism. At its heart, this book is about the heart: How we can view money as a tool for building relationships, restoring communities, connecting with the Earth, and acting with greater empathy and generosity.
In the second edition of this book, the concept of resource-based sustainability has once again been expanded to include further references to modern management theories. The author shows that overcoming the dilemmas that sustainability creates for companies and all organizations leads to more complex decisions that also require higher levels of awareness. The concept of sustainable leadership is closely related to the resource approach. Finally, readers will learn how to tell a compelling transformation narrative toward sustainability.
Rapidly developing Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems hold tremendous potential to change various domains and exert considerable influence on societies and organizations alike. More than merely a technical discipline, AI requires interaction between various professions. Based on the results of fundamental literature and empirical research, this book addresses the management's awareness of the ethical and moral aspects of AI.It seeks to fill a literature gap and offer the management guidance on tackling Trustworthy AI Implementation (TAII) while also considering ethical dependencies within the company. The TAII Framework introduced here pursues a holistic approach to identifying systemic ethical relationships within the company ecosystem and considers corporate values, business models, and common goods aspects like the Sustainable Development Goals and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Further, it provides guidance on the implementation of AI ethics in organisations without requiring a deeper background in philosophy and considers the social impacts outside of the software and data engineering setting. Depending on the respective legal context or area of application, the TAII Framework can be adapted and used with a range of regulations and ethical principles. This book can serve as a case study or self-review for c-level managers and students who are interested in this field. It also offers valuable guidelines and perspectives for policymakers looking to pursue an ethical approach to AI.
This book divides two parts. The first part indicate why robot product manufacturers need to concern moral or ethic to manufacture any robot products. The second part indicate why scientists need to concern science moral or ethic to do whose scientific researches. In first part, I shall indicate these two questions to concern the difference between (AI) scientist moral and other scientist moral. (AI) research and development raises two questions about moral responsibilities: Should we continue to develop artificial intelligent entities? If we do, what are our moral responsibilities to them? I write this (AI) moral first part aims to let readers to make argument that to judge why robots need have legal, ethic, or moral limitation to concern whether much of robot ethics is concerned with the well-being of human or/and not ethical employment, or moral regard and threaten of robots. Whether robot ethic or moral or legal questions ought need to be considered by law or society or fully moral agent, and whether any robot ethic or moral or legal issues whether are permitted to enter contracts and largely whether are held fully responsible to ( at least some of ) their actions. The most important aim that I expect my readers can make critically logical mind to give yourself opinions to concern whether either which robots will ethical consequence or in this situation, it is not an issue of the morality of the decider, but rather the moral weight of the choice once made. In AI weapon immoral application aspect, Nowadays, artificial intelligence (AI) technology is popular to be applied to different industry aspects, such as medical, construction, transportation, hospital, education etc. Although, (AI) is a human invention new development. IN fact, it seems only beneficial to human's daily life. But, it will also have threats to influence human's safety in possible , if some scientists or self-interest mind people who aim to apply (AI) to earn more profit or apply (AI) tools to be weapon to attack other countries to achieve to dominate all human's ambitious intention. Thus, (AI) will bring negative influences to our society, instead of positive influences if we can not apply this kind of new technological tools immorally. I shall give my opinions to indicate what reasons will cause (AI) artificial intelligent tools to be applied to social military defense weapon by human's intention. In my this books, I hope my readers can know what will cause human's immoral behaviors to bring our societies to bring more dangerous or risks or threats if human applied (AI) technology to achieve whose immoral or ambitious intention. Finally, I hope that human ought not apply (AI) technology to do any behavioral attack to satisfy ourselves interest or dominate global world ambition to avoid (AI) technological war occurrence in the future one day. I shall bring the question: Whether AI weapon application is moral or immoral to AI scientist invention. In my this part, I shall imply some questions are addressed by robots with some moral agency to let my readers to make evaluation of robot its own ethical system and moral judgment. In second part, what is business science morality? Why is business science morality important? Why do business managers or scientists need to consider whose moral behaviors to achieve to do any decisions as well as consider what are negative or bad influence to other stakeholders? I shall suppose different situations to indicate to these scientists, such as physical, earth, plant, medicine, computer etc. My aim is to raise their judicious ability to judge whether who ought or ought not follow morality to do their scientific research in any situations as well as whether who will encounter what of challenges if who don't follow the morality to do their research in the situation . I hope any scientists can learn how to deal their moral behavior to do correct scientific decision.

Every person possesses a unique combination of knowledge, strengths, experiences, and perspectives, all playing out in the context of a story that is theirs alone. Each of us is truly one of a kind, and consequently, each of us is equipped with the potential to see a possibility that no one else has yet seen. There is a composite form of genius waiting to be discovered in every organization. The components are there! It's up to the leader to effectively assemble them. This can be done successfully only within a healthy culture where people are respected, connected, and fully empowered to make their greatest individual and collective contributions.Leadership is about more than the quality of what is produced. It's also about the quality of life experienced by the people producing it. Leadership is all about people, and despite how obvious this may seem, we have all encountered people in leadership positions who didn't seem to realize that. As a leader, it's important to realize that people don't want to follow you simply because you are ahead of them or because you are somehow perceived to be above them. They want to follow you because you have demonstrated that you will walk side by sidewith them. You may be an experienced leader, or you might now be starting your exploration of leadership. This book is intended to be valuable for everyone regardless of their current realities or long-term goals. Assembly Required is a practical approach to leadership. Rather than featuring stories about legendary leaders in business and politics, the focus is on scenarios that most of us are likely to encounter - things we can all relate to, and the corresponding philosophies and strategies that will be helpful not only with respect to leadership roles, but also in day-to-day life.
The book reframes the discussion from a race-and-gender-based "business case for diversity" to explore the conditions which render Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) policies beneficial or divisive.

Compliance has long been identified by scholars of white-collar crime as a key strategic control device in the regulation of corporations and complex organisations. Nevertheless, this essential process has been largely ignored within criminology as a specific subject for close scrutiny - Corporate Compliance: Crime, Convenience and Control seeks to address this anomaly. This initiating book applies the theory of convenience to provide criminological insight into the enduring self-regulatory phenomenon of corporate compliance. Convenience theory suggests that compliance is challenged when the corporation has a strong financial motive for illegitimate profits, ample organisational opportunities to commit and conceal wrongdoing, and executive willingness for deviant behaviour. Focusing on white-collar deviance and crime within corporations, the book argues that lack of compliance is recurrently a matter of deviant behaviour by senior executives within organisations who abuse their privileged positions to commission, commit and conceal financial crime.

Chuck Gallagher and author Bruce H. Wolk present a provocative collection of 31 stories that test our ideas of morality and judgment in a world where convenience and self-interest frequently take precedence over integrity and character. The fan experience experts, consultants and trainers Gallagher and Wolk examine the lives of people whose decisions have had a lasting impact on their legacies, families, sports organizations, and companies. Each chapter delves into a tale of dubious choices, some impulsive and some deliberate, and poses important queries about the inner workings of the human conscience. Did these athletes ever stop to think about the long-lasting effects of their decisions, or did they just expect they would get away with it? Did they go to bed at night, blissfully unaware of the chaos they had wrought upon themselves and those around them?Readers are encouraged by Gallagher and Wolk to consider the causes of recent controversies in the sports industry. Were these intentional efforts to develop a "bad boy" reputation or did they come from a place of disobedience and unhappiness? Were these secrets meant to be kept in the closet for all time?Gallagher and Wolk challenge us to reflect on our own lives and choices as we follow this compelling narrative, challenging us to see that our reputations are the outcome of daily decisions that demonstrate our morality, honesty, integrity, and reliability. Gallagher and Wolk remind us that we are our own publicists and are in charge of creating the image we want to present to the world in a world where our actions are constantly being watched. The wisdom and insights in the book-crafted by Gallagher and strengthened by Wolk's viewpoints-serve as a beacon of hope, inspiring readers to manage their public image and lead a life marked by respect, integrity, and relevance. This volume brings together contributions from women business scholars from a range of disciplines and countries. The starting point was a collaborative research meeting organised by Daughters of Themis: International Network of Female Business Scholars in June 2017. The volume highlights the difficulties and the possibilities that lie in working together across disciplines with the aim of achieving corporate sustainability. The volume is written from the perspective of women business scholars, thereby offering outside viewpoints in fields that still are very much dominated by men, and fresh insights and innovate ideas. In three main parts, the authors address the need for interdisciplinarity in research to identify ways to ensure the contribution of business to sustainability, showcasing a number of theoretical and applied approaches for researching sustainable business. The volume 's introductory chapter situates the volume in discourses of sustainability and corporate sustainability. It presents the Daughters of Themis Network and provides a short description of the successive eleven chapters. In Part I, Reflections, contributors discuss the significance of interdisciplinary research, how to work across disciplines, as well as the challenges of doing so. In Part II, Theory, contributors discuss theoretical and methodological aspects of interdisciplinary research. Part III presents the Practice of interdisciplinary research. In the introductory chapter, the editors reflect on the insights that can be drawn out of the contributions, and discuss the potential for future developments of interdisciplinary research for sustainability, as well as how interdisciplinary research can be communicated. The book is intended for business scholars, and will particularly appeal to those working in law, accountancy and finance, management, and organization studies.
