Ageing is a universal phenomenon and a natural biological process of the life cycle. As people enter old age, they begin to experience associated changes in their physical, mental and social health. Old age is usually connected with different types of problems encountered by the aged physical diseases, psychological illness and adjustment problems are common during this phase of life. The quality of life of non-institutionalized elderly was more than compared to institutionalized elderly. The elderly living in the community had greater psychological and social relationships than the institutionalized elderly. Loneliness was more among the institutionalized elderly than among the non-institutionalized elderly. Depression was associated with loneliness in institutionalized elderly. The elderly are at risk for loneliness, and depression and interventions to promote social connectedness are needed to directly address this problem. Intervention programme such as preventive lifestyle-oriented intervention is helpful in improving the well-being of the elderly. One-to-one contact and group activity had the highest impact on social connectedness.

This Book summarizes the experimental prototype of the embedded image-capturing system with Raspberry Pi system. The graphics capabilities of the Raspberry Pi are roughly equivalent to the level of performance of the Xbox of 2001. The Raspberry Pi chip, operating at 700 MHz by default, will not become hot enough to need a heat sink or special cooling. The SoC is stacked underneath the RAM chip, so only its edge is visible. Level 2 cache is 128 KB, used primarily by the GPU, not the CPU. This system is smaller, lighter and with lower power consumption, so it is more convenient than the PC-based face recognition system. Because of the open-source code, it is freer to do software development on Linux. Experimental results show that it¿s an effective method of using a Raspberry Pi board to actualize an embedded image-capturing system.

This volume illustrates the relationship between environmental factors and economic development of countries from various angles. Global warming has become a problem that threatens the whole world, especially in recent years. It is known that the main reason for this is carbon emissions. On the other hand, carbon emissions generally consist of fossil fuel-based energy consumption. This situation creates very serious environmental problems. Because of this problem, the concept of carbon zero has become very popular, especially in recent years. Many countries take some actions to minimize carbon emissions. Especially in the coming years, carbon emissions will become a competitive factor for countries and businesses. In this respect, countries with low carbon emissions will be preferred more in foreign trade. In addition, businesses that do not generate carbon emissions in the production process will also gain a significant competitive advantage in international trade. The contributions take a multidimensional outlook to energy investments and offer solutions for decision-making for energy projects in risky business ecosystems.
Solidarity is an ¿unthought¿ in the fields of organizational theory and management sciences. However, it is an increasingly important feature in the management of organizations. The contemporary world suffers from a double unsustainability: the abusive exploitation of natural resources endangers the balance of the climate and biodiversity, while growing inequalities condemn our ability to maintain a balanced society. These unsustainabilities are mutually reinforcing and call for the affirmation of a double solidarity, which unites humans among themselves, and links humans and nonhumans. Such an effort cannot be decreed. It must be organized.Based on numerous grassroots initiatives and citizens¿ experimentations that are being invented every day around the world and on a historical and anthropological approach, this book explores different ways of combining solidarity and organization. Solidarity-based management, governance of the commons, and Buen Vivir approaches are some of the perspectives analyzed in the context of a North-South dialogue in order to formulate the conceptual framework and practical steps of a social and environmental transition. It offers both theoretical background and living examples to students, professors and researchers to better understand and better teach new avenues for management.
What if the harbinger of our greener future was a small power plant set in the middle of nowhere in West Texas? Longtime alternative energy executive Andy Bowman's book makes exactly this case, outlining what he suggests is a more sustainable future for American capitalism. Newly revised and updated for 2023, The West Texas Power Plant that Saved the World, offers the Barilla solar plant in Pecos County as a test case for the state of renewable energy in the twenty-first century United States. Bowman explains the climate science that necessitated this shift and makes business-based arguments for what the future should look like. The result is a book that tells a personal story of West Texan innovation, gumption and vision, while outlining how our society needs to work in partnership with all stakeholders to confront climate change.
Events can educate, inspire, and connect, but all too often they escalate into resource-intensive glorifications of excess and exclusivity. How We Gather Matters provides insight and practical tools to unleash the potential of gatherings to help create a more purposeful, inclusive, waste- and emissions-free society.
Pakistan has rich history on the folk use of plants. There are more than 6,000 species of higher plants. Medicinal plants are widely used in the health-care system all over the world. The potential value of medicinal compounds derived from plants has been proposed as a tangible benefit of biodiversity and therefore a basis for promoting its conservation. The fact that ecosystems based on medicinal plants support high levels of biodiversity is also widely acknowledged. It has also raised awareness of the potential advantages these plants may have in the future among decision-makers, financiers, and development organizations. This has encouraged many forward-thinking and inventive farmers to pursue this form of farming as a business enterprise.

'An essential resource. Howson strikes not just at cryptocurrency, but the frauds who promote blockchain technology as a solution to any social problem' David Gerard, author of Attack of the 50 Foot Blockchain'A merciless takedown of attempts to apply blockchain to the world's biggest problems ... If you are thinking of using blockchain for good, read this first' Professor Villi Lehdonvirta, University of OxfordThe subject of immense hope, hype and confusion, crypto has amassed countless headlines in recent years. With cryptocurrencies, NFTs and metaverse markets crashing, the underlying blockchain technology is still promised to solve global development challenges, and revolutionise every industry. But is the technology really a silver bullet?Peter Howson cuts through the jargon and bluster to tell an alarming story of how right-wing libertarian crypto entrepreneurs - often aided by charities, politicians and philanthropists - seek out and exploit conditions of poverty, oppression, corruption and conflict. Their goal? A new front of 'crypto-colonial' extractivism. Let Them Eat Crypto reveals the alarming truth: far from 'banking the unbanked', saving the gorillas, or freeing people from oppressive governments, blockchain offers only false solutions, surveillance and hi-tech snake oil.Peter Howson is a technology writer, researcher and Assistant Professor in International Development at Northumbria University. His work has appeared in Reuters, The Independent, The Conversation, Novara, Jacobin and Coindesk. He investigates the green-washing, aid-washing and crypto-shenanigans that go on in Silicon Valley, as well as the lesser-known tech-hubs of the Global South.

It seems like you hear it all the time from nearly everyone you know ¿ "I'm SO stressed out!" Pressures abound in this world today. Those pressures cause stress and anxiety, and often we are ill-equipped to deal with those stressors that trigger anxiety and other feelings that can make us sick. Literally, sick. The statistics are staggering. One in every eight Americans aged 18-54 suffers from an anxiety disorder. This totals over 19 million people! Research conducted by the National Institute of Mental Health has shown that anxiety disorders are the number one mental health problem among American women and are second only to alcohol and drug abuse by men.Women suffer from anxiety and stress almost twice as much as men. Anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in America, surpassing even depression in numbers. Anxiety is the most common mental health issue facing adults over 65 years of age. Anxiety disorders cost the U.S. $46.6 billion annually. Anxiety sufferers see an average of five doctors before being successfully diagnosed.
The main theme of this book is the social dimension of the circular economy (CE). This book¿s objective is to provide a foundation for the discussion of social aspects of CE that also allows the integration of CE with the UN SDGs. The circular economy is increasingly becoming the consensual pathway for a transition towards sustainable production and consumption that balances the economic and ecological pillars of sustainable development. However, researchers have noted that the social dimension of sustainable development is noticeable missing or, at best, weakly developed in CE ideas and frameworks (Sehnem et al., 2019). The main argument of this book is that CE research and practice needs to embrace its social impacts, not only in terms of understanding and avoiding negative social impacts but also in terms of exploring the potential that CE models have for addressing social challenges.

There are many flowers and nightingales in the garden of literature. This anthology is being published in order to support and develop young creative people in Uzbekistan. Examples of works are presented, including poetry, short stories, journalistic articles and biographies.Poetry can capture a person's heart like a magician. There are such poems that can fit the whole life of a person in 4 lines. Of course, this is done by a poet with a sharp pen. The stories in the collection are also alive and moving¿ If we talk about journalistic articles, artistic elements lead in all of them. The anthology is being published under the editorship of Nilufar Rukhillayeva, and we express our gratitude to Abdukarimova Durdona for skillfully translating creative works from Uzbek to English.
Buffalo husbandry in the Indian context is very intimately interwoven with the country¿s rural economy such that its prevalence as a source of food and additional income transcends all socio-economic boundaries of rural life. Skills in buffalo rearing, milk production and processing have been handed over from generation to generation. This is a blessed heritage of people of India which needs to be resurrected through applied innovations and cooperative human resource utilization. The major stakeholders who influence buffalo development in the state were buffalo farmers, scientists, SDAH field functionaries, input agencies, administrators, planners and non-government organizations. Scientists of ICAR institutes and State Veterinary University generated technologies which were passed on to State Department of Animal Husbandry field functionaries/veterinarians. Farmers were supposed to utilize these technologies and information. Administrators from ICAR institutes, State Veterinary University, State Department of Animal Husbandry, Non-government organizations, cooperatives and banks were responsible for framing policies.
Transition metal phosphate (TMP) based materials are developing as advanced type electrode materials for hybrid supercapacitors (SCs) due to their unprecedented conductivity, and rich redox activity. Attracted by these fabulous physicochemical characteristics of metal phosphates, binder-free nickel copper (Ni-Cu) phosphate thin films with Ni-Cu composition variation were directly grown on stainless steel (SS) substrate via hydrothermal and SILAR methods. The composition of nickel and copper ratio varied to achieve better results by using synergy among them. Binder-free and adherent thin films of nickel copper phosphate were characterized by various physico-chemical methods. The best performing nickel copper phosphate electrodes were used for the fabrication of asymmetric (Ni-Cu Phosphate//rGO) aqueous (1 M KOH electrolyte) and solid state device (SSD) (PVA-KOH gel electrolyte). Moreover, SSD brightens a panel of 201 red light-emitting diodes (LEDs) illustrating its commercial practicability to next-generation hybrid energy storage devices.

Almost in every educational institution these physics laboratories are found. Nonetheless the sophistication of the educational laboratory varies from institute to institute. This book will help to understand the laboratory experiments as per revised syllabus of Anna university.
In The Paradise Lost, there is a well-known fuzziness between the authority of paganism and biblical tradition. The poem exhorts its audience to believe in the biblical narrative of Creation, but Milton's radical theodicy is unrestrained by conventional theological beliefs. Although Milton's ecclesiastical writings purport to express the ways of God to humanity, the great classic poets have ironically affected and "anxiously" inspired his presentation of them. The poem's representation of the biblical paradigm cannot be separated from the paganism it appears to be edging more and further away from.
Operating system (OS), Software that controls the operation of a computer, directs the input and output of data, keeps track of files, and controls the processing of computer programs. Its roles include managing the functioning of the computer hardware, running the applications programs, serving as an interface between the computer and the user, and allocating computer resources to various functions. When several jobs reside in the computer simultaneously and share resources (multitasking), the OS allocates fixed amounts of CPU time and memory in turn or allows one job to read data while another writes to a printer and still another performs computations.
