This volume examines the relationship between Christian legal theory and the fields of private law.Recent years have seen a resurgence of interest in private law theory, and this book contributes to that discussion by drawing on the historical, theological, and philosophical resources of the Christian tradition. The book begins with an introduction from the editors that lays out the understanding of "private law" and what distinguishes private law topics from other fields of law. This section includes two survey chapters on natural law and biblical sources. The remaining sections of the book move sequentially through the fields of property, contracts, and torts. Several chapters focus on historical sources and show the ways in which the evolution of legal doctrine in areas of private law has been heavily influenced by Christian thinkers. Other chapters draw out more contemporary and public policy-related implications for private law. While this book is focused on the relationship of Christianity to private law, it will be of broad interest to those who might not share that faith perspective. In particular, legal historians and philosophers of law will find much of interest in the original scholarship in this volume. The book will be attractive to teachers of law, political science, and theology. It will be of special interest to the many law faculty in property, contracts, and torts, as it provides a set of often overlooked historical and theoretical perspectives on these fields.

"Some Devonian Items" contains a selection of notices of deeds, wills, and other similar documents related to Devonshire. Devonshire, also known as Devon, is a county in England that stretches from the Bristol Channel in the north to the English Channel in the south. It is part of South West England, bounded by Cornwall to the west, Somerset to the northeast, and Dorset to the east. This volume will appeal to those with an interest in the history of this picturesque English country, and it is not to be missed by collectors of literature related to the area. Many vintage books such as this are increasingly scarce and expensive. It is with this in mind that we are republishing this volume now complete with the original text and artwork.

The book examines the Law of Adverse Possession in both the UK and Nigeria, and gives a critique of the ways in which it is regarded by both the State and the judicial system in these jurisdictions. Although much has been written about adverse possession from an Anglo-American perspective, the Nigerian aspect of this book is unique and brings an important point of difference when thinking about the right to settle, work and own land in an international arena. This book will be of interest to students of law (especially comparative and property law); to scholars and activists with an interest in land settlement by indigenous and dispossessed peoples; a useful guide for the court in the dispensation of justice; and a pilot for the State in managing property relations.

The South Carolina Advanced Real Estate Principles: the "SCAP" Unit II Program has been developed to satisfy South Carolina's 30-hour Unit II requirement. The course also fulfills the Real Estate Commission's objective of giving South Carolina real estate licensees a carefully developed reinforcement of key real estate brokerage principles, concepts, and practices necessary to initiate a productive, professional career in real estate.Beyond an initial review of key principles, the SCAP Program takes on a further examination of essential skills and practices that will be necessary to meet client and customer transactional requirements within South Carolina's legal framework. Such skills examined include compliance with South Carolina agency and disclosure laws; how to properly represent and disclose property characteristics; and an intensive look at South Carolina transaction contracts: listings; the sales contract; options and contracts for deed. Beyond its agency and contracts topics, the SCAP further examines the other key subjects required by the Commission: ethics; handling trust funds; regulatory compliance; and critical cornerstones of professional practice. Finally, the last two modules of the SCAP program examine the various methods used to measure real property; price and appraise real property; and evaluate how real property is evaluated as a professional investment. These considerations encompass income properties as well as residential non-income property, and include pre-tax analysis as well as after-tax analysis.Taken as a whole, the South Carolina Advanced Real Estate Principles program is designed to deepen the new licensee's understanding of how brokerage works in actual practice - and how it is supposed to be undertaken in view of today's standards of professionalism, ethics, and legal compliance.

Features of Colorado Real Estate License Exam Prep (CO-RELEP):National Principles & Law Key Point Review (60 pages)Real Estate Math Key Formula Review & Practice (20 pages)Colorado-Specific Laws and Practices (44 pages)National Practice Tests (500 questions)Colorado Practice Tests (140 questions)Colorado Sample Exam (115 questions)We know the real estate licensing exam can be tough, and very nerve-wracking to prepare for. That's why we created Colorado Real Estate License Exam Prep (CO-RELEP) the way we did. Since we have been managing real estate schools and developing curriculum for forty years, we know how all this works - or fails to work.CO-RELEP is comprehensive in that it contains both key content review and testing practice. And the text review is Colorado-specific - not just simplistic national content, but terse, relevant and accurate Colorado laws and regulations presented as a well-organized set of state 'key point reviews' ideal for pre-test memorization. But let's not dismiss the importance of the national content either. CO-RELEP's national key point reviews are a succinct compression of tested national principles and practices that comprise the national portion of state license exams from coast to coast. Our content is drawn from our own national textbook, Principles of Real Estate Practice - one of the most widely used principles textbooks in the country. Finally, our national content, as well as our question selection, is further tailored to the state testing outline promulgated by PSI for Colorado. Thus the breadth and depth of the law reviews and test questions reflect the topic emphasis of your state's testing service and your Colorado license exam.A word about the test questions... CO-RELEP's testing practice section consists of ten national practice tests, eight state practice tests, and one state exam sample test. The practice tests are roughly 50 questions in length and the sample test is 115 questions. The test questions are designed to cover the content covered by the law reviews - which reinforces your learning of the total body of information tested by your state exam. The questions are direct, to the point, and designed to test your understanding. When you have completed a given test, you can check your answers against the answer key in the appendix. You may also note that each question's answer is accompanied by a brief explanation, or "rationale" to further reinforce your understanding. In the end, as you know, it's all up to you. Unlike other publications, we are not going to tell you that using this book will guarantee that you pass your state exam. It still takes hard work and study to pass. But we have done our best here to get you ready. Following that, the most we can do is wish you the best of success in taking and passing your Colorado real estate exam. So good luck!!

This book analyses the nexus between land access and the extractive industries in Africa, specifically highlighting the gaps in energy, land and mining laws and the practical solutions needed to settle the increasing number of land disputes in resource-rich areas.Access to land is essential for the successful operation of energy and mining projects. However, there are often social, environmental and economic issues associated with acquiring land for these projects. Socially, many people are relocated; economically, local communities are not given adequate compensation; environmentally, pollution negatively impacts on the agricultural and fishing industries relied on by over 80% of the local communities. Against this stark background, and drawing from the author's fieldwork research, this book addresses the important question of whether the different land tenure systems, coupled with administration and registration procedures, are adequate to address the increasing land disputes in oil and mineral-rich African countries.
