Im Notfall sollen betriebliche Ersthelfer*innen qualifizierte Erste-Hilfe im Unternehmen leisten können. Teile der Belegschaft werden dazu in Erste-Hilfe-Kursen ausgebildet. Eine Reform der Ausbildung bezüglich Ausbildungsdauer und -inhalte fand 2015 statt. Ein Ziel war, in den Kursen intensiver auf die Anforderungen der jeweiligen Betriebe einzugehen.In der vorliegenden Studie wird die Effektivität der Ausbildung kritisch hinterfragt. Dazu wurden im Juni und August 2021 die Teilnehmer*innen von Erste-Hilfe-Kursen für betriebliche Ersthelfer*innen zu den letzten von ihnen absolvierten Kursen befragt. Mit einem Wissenstest wurden die Kompetenzen der Teilnehmer*innen in Bezug auf spezielle betriebliche Notfälle geprüft. Auch die Ergebnisse anderer Untersuchungen sowie die Meinung von Experten wurden einbezogen, um die Frage zu klären, ob die Ausbildung den spezifischen Anforderungen in den Betrieben gerecht wird. Das Ergebnis der eigenen Untersuchung zeigt, dass nur etwa ein Drittel der betrieblichen Ersthelfer*innen den spezifischen Anforderungen in den jeweiligen Betrieben gerecht wurde. Insbesondere konnten Schwachstellen bei Erste-Hilfe-Maßnahmen identifiziert werden, die komplexe Behandlungsstrategien erfordern. Eine hohe Ausbildungsqualität mit einfachen Lehraussagen, die sich auf klare Prinzipien von Erste-Hilfe stützen, ein deutlicher Praxisbezug und eine bessere Motivation der Kursteilnehmer*innen könnten positive Auswirkungen auf die Ersthelferkompetenzen haben.
