Knowledge of veterinary anatomy and physiology is essential for veterinary students, professionals, and researchers, as well as animal owners who wish to gain greater levels of understanding. The study was conducted at Livestock Farm, Department of Livestock Production and Management, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Namakkal in 24 weaned rabbits each in White Giant and Soviet Chinchilla consisting of four treatment groups having six animals in each group namely control (T1), provision of cool drinking water (T2), electrolyte supplementation (T3) and water spraying (T4) in order to record the physiological responses, hematology and blood biochemical profile and to compare the influence of different heat ameliorative measures on growth rate. Various physiological parameters were studied and interpreted. Hematology and biochemistry profile were analyzed and tabulated. Productive performance on rabbits were statistically analyzed.
The present book is focusses on the methods and effects of placement of laparoscopic port in laparoscopy and site of incision to perform open methods of ovariectomy in elective spaying of female dogs. Twenty clinically healthy adult (Median age 3.25 years) female dogs weighing 14 to 38 kg (Median weight 26 kg) were used in the study. The ovariectomy was performed in two phases, in phase I, it has been done through laparoscopy by placing camera port caudal to the umbilicus on linea alba and two paramedian port caudal to that of camera port in triangular fashion in group A whereas; in group B the camera port was similar to that of group A but other two ports were one cranial to umbilicus and one caudal to camera port onlinea albai.estraight line. In phase II ovariectomy has been done by open surgical procedure in which site of incision to approach ovary was on right flank in group C whereas, it was caudal to umbilicus onlinea albain group D. Evaluation of surgical technique have been done on the basis of changes in clinical, haematobiochemical and marker for oxidative stress.

This book contains the gross, histological and histochemical studies on the pancreas of twenty four apparently healthy chabro chickens irrespective of sex. The pancreas was located in the abdominal cavity on the right side of median plane within the duodenal loop. It was elongated and was creamy white in group-1 and pale pink in other groups. The pancreas of chabro chicken was covered by thin fibrous connective tissue capsule. The interstitial tissue around the acini was formed by reticular fibers which generally encircled one third to two third part of the individual acini in group 1 and the entire acini in other groups. From group- 2 onwards fine to coarse reticular fibers were observed inside the islets of Langerhans. Exocrine parenchyma consisted of serous tubuloacinar secretory acini and the duct system. Endocrine part (Islets of Langerhans) was oval and rounded however, their shape varied considerably. Epithelium of various types of ducts the reaction for best carmine, Sudan black B and bromophenol blue was similar in all the groups but the reaction for acid muccopolysaccharides and PAS was different in various groups.

In der vorliegenden Studie sollte ein Konjugat aus dem Fc-Fragment von Mäuse-IgG und rOMP 28 hergestellt werden. This book contains the epidemiology, bioclimatograph and anthelmintic assessment of gastrointestinal nematodes of sheep and goats of Uttarakhand. The results of epidemiology indicated that sheep and goats were infected with G.I. strongyles throughout the year in both tarai and hill regions of Uttarakhand with the highest prevalence being in rainy season. Bioclimatographs prepared can serve as prediction models to aid in devising management strategies against strongyles. Based on the epidemiological pattern of G.I. nematodes in sheep and goats, it is suggested that they should be treated with anthelmintics once in May/June, August/September and February/March. Both sheep and goats harboured predominantly Haemonchus parasites besides Trichostrongylus, Oesophagostomum, Strongyloides and Bunostomum ¿ which exert negative effects on productivity of animals as suggested by increased weight gains and improvement in haemato-biochemical alterations post-treatment with anthelmintics. These epidemiological findings can thus be utilized in formulating an effective control programme against G.I. nematodosis.

It is imperative that dairy producers optimize growth in order to prepare their animals for productive purposes as soon as possible. More produce in terms of offspring and milk could be obtained from such fast-growing animals. Thus, bypassing technology to improve protein utilization seems like a rational way out for the purposes above. Among all methods, formaldehyde (HCHO) treatment of cake is the most common for nutrient protection of dietary protein. Bypass protein technology is an efficient and comparatively cheaper method for protecting highly degradable protein sources in the rumen. It involves feed management through passive rumen manipulation with an aim of reducing the ruminal degradation of protein. This will allow this nutrient to get digested and absorbed from the lower digestive tract leading to the improved growth performance of dairy buffalo heifers.

The present study was planned to construct the conjugate ofFc fragment of mice IgG with rOMP 28. The developed conjugate wasused to investigate the kinetics of humoral and cellular immuneresponse in comparison to its un conjugated and the rOMP 28 alone.Among all the groups, the group of mice immunized with CpG+ rOMP 28 induced highest level of humoral immune response andBrucella abortus S19 group conferred highest level of cellular response which was evidenced by high nitric oxide concentration and also by the clearance of virulent B. abortus 544 from the spleen after challenge.The conjugated group conferred low level of humoral responsewhen compared to the rOMP28 alone which may be due to theirreversible loss of Fc receptors on the macrophage plasma membraneand the involvement of inhibitory Fc¿IIR which is involved in theregulation of immune responses.The B. abortus S19 strain group induced a high level of protection when challenged with virulent B. abortus 544 which indicate whole cell organism composed of various components may be involved in the protection.
The traditional knowledge of tribals was scientifically validated where investigation was undertaken to evaluate in vivo anthelmintic efficacy of Nigella sativa (Kaloji), Swertia chirata (Chirayata)and Piper longum (Pippali) on gastrointestinal nematodes in naturally infected goats. Besides the anthelminitc efficacy of the aforesaid indigenous plants, the haematological and clinical observations were made to find out their safety levels in goats. The extractability and phytochemical composition of N. sativa, S. chirata and P. longum were also determined to find out the presence of bioactive principles in the indigenous plants.
The present experiment was planned to assess the effect of feeding formaldehyde (HCHO) treated (bypass) protein on growth and reproductive performance in buffalo heifers through alterations in rumen and blood metabolites. A total of twenty five, Surti buffalo heifers of 19-21 month of age with mean body weight were divided into five homogenous groups. Individual feeding of all the animals were followed with basal diet containing 5 kg green roughage, dry roughages ad lib along with required quantity of compounded concentrate mixture (CCM). The animals were offered with the concentrate mixture cpontaining different level of HCHO treated protein and designated as CON (control; CCM), FT-25 (CCM containing HCHO treated bypass protein @ 25%), FT-50 (CCM containing HCHO treated bypass protein @ 50%) and FT-100 (CCM containing HCHO treated bypass protein @100%). A field control group (CSM) was also assigned, which was fed with cotton seed meal as CCM.
