It was September 1943, and the world was again at war, when my mother, Alexis Hart Barclay, first stepped foot in Venezuela, South America. She was twenty-four, smart, sophisticated, athletic, beautiful, worldly, romantic, and fluent in four languages. She and her equally gifted new husband yearned for the adventure and skill required to serve as both faithful missionaries and all-consuming spies during World War II for the United States Office of Strategic Services (OSS), the direct predecessor to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The dual role required faithfulness and adultery, giving and taking of life, and lying and speaking the truth - in an effort to assure freedom of all mankind from the tyranny and evil of the World War II Axis powers (the German Third Reich, and the Empires of Japan and Italy).The lives and paths of my parents and other individuals from the Axis powers crossed in dangerous and critical ways between 1943 and the end of World War II in 1945. This story, based on actual historical events, is about my parents' incredible lives and their belief systems, both of which were necessarily compromised for the benefit of all mankind.

My grandfather, went from one side of the globe to the other on board LST 534, which saw action in two of the worst battlefields of World War II, the Invasion of Normandy, and the Invasion of Okinawa. I have attempted to put this story together from the perspective of my grandfather through his letters to his parents and other ephemera from the midst of the conflagration.

And he writes of dreaming of sweet Anne and how he hoped she was waiting for him.Perhaps surprisingly, he didn't write of his hatred for his captors despite the horrific conditions. Instead, he hoped for peace for both sides. He wrote, "I have been in the air and also on the ground and I know how horrible war can be. It is terrible that so many people have to be slaughtered even though they are your enemies." This book also looks at other notable things which happened in Stalag Luft 1 including a hidden radio which allowed prisoners to listen to news broadcasts from Britain and America and allowed them to write a secret newspaper distributed amongst the camp. At the war's end Marshall wrote to Marvin and his fellow servicemen, "Choose your leaders wisely - that is the way to keep ours the country for which you fought. I slutningen af 2. Verdenskrig kom op imod 250.000 tyske flygtninge til Danmark. De kom med skibe til Sjælland og blev fordelt, hvor der var plads på skoler og i forsamlingshuse. JUNO was the code name for Canadian beach landings for the 3rd Canadian Division supported by the 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade, reinforced by the 1st Polish Armoured Brigade. The objective of the Canadians was to take Carpiquet airfield. They had three objective lines, Yew, Elm and Oak, each of which was achieved on D-Day. In this book there is a write up on the counter attack by the 12SS Panzer Group and the executions of Canadians by them. Many of the Canadian troops had never been out of Canada and this was a big adventure for them. The medals they won are documented and were very brave.
