Absolute binary physics has physical, philosophical, theological, environmental, and economic implications. To be able to apprehend it, we must radically change our conception of the Universe. Two additional coordinates are necessary to add to the usual four to obtain a precise position. Starting from the unitary constant and the eight fundamental energy equations taken two by two, we obtain 28 times the same equation. Geometrically speaking, it is a regular octagon whose relations between its vertices (08 sides and 20 diagonals) govern our Universe. The infinitely small joins the infinitely large to the absolute values '0' and '1'. The equation resulting from the eight previously cited is the following: N = (S(x, y, z) / T) M. The change in physics (as taught to us) is qualitative. The international system of units does not apply to this physics. A new synthetic physics with a simple formalism, where there is no object, no movement, and no frame of reference, can explain the creation! But let's get along; this theory does not sound like the death knell of physics but provides the key to a better understanding of the Universe. It broadens our horizon of thought to six dimensions (instead of four). Our approach to fundamental questions is consequently radically reconsidered. Humanity can now gather around a unifying conceptual base to reflect on existential questions such as: 1) - The reason for being, the role of Man in this world, and the meaning of life; 2) - Is the equation: more energy and information = more progress (in the sense of more comfort and safety) still valid? 3) - Does Man, as a spiritual and biological being, have a future within industrial civilization? Let us note that the human is the object, not only of evolution but especially of a future, whereas Man (by the whole of the cultural, historical determinisms that weave him together and to which it contributes by his action and by what he does with himself), participates in this becoming.
A detailed social history of technological change arguing that ordinary Mexicans, spurred by state electrification initiatives, became agents of scientific advance and in the process fostered a modernist political sensibility.
Globally, the demand for electricity is increasing significantly and thus there is a need for more power generation. As a result, environmental pollution from burning fossil fuels is accelerating climate change at an unprecedented pace, as evidenced by recent extreme weather events across the world. As such, several paradigm shifts in power and energy systems are happening to protect the environment, societies, and economies against climate change. As the world is planning for a future with low carbon emissions, today's power system is transitioning from its existing traditional hierarchical structure to a more decentralized framework through innovative energy management techniques, such as peer-to-peer (P2P) sharing. Due to the potential benefits that P2P sharing can offer to electricity prosumers, consumers, and the grid, research, development, and pilot trials of P2P are advancing rapidly. To capture these developments in this emerging energy management paradigm, present in this monograph is a comprehensive review of various features of P2P sharing. To do so, first introduced is the network and market structures that are required to facilitate P2P sharing within a local community. Thereafter, a comprehensive overview of various challenges of P2P energy-sharing mechanisms at both virtual and physical layers is provided, followed by a discussion of technical approaches used in literature to address these challenges. Third, some emerging technological innovations that will be relevant to, and important for, the development of P2P sharing in future markets are introduced and discussed. Fourth, a summary of existing pilot P2P projects is provided, and this is followed by a summary of potential future research directions and a conclusion. Thus, by providing a holistic view of challenges and contributions to both virtual and physical layers of P2P energy systems simultaneously and in a structured way, this monograph delivers a comprehensive understanding of the core challenges that hinder the integration of P2P sharing in the current market model.
The aim of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) is to reduce the amount of CO2 released into the atmosphere and to mitigate its effects on climate change. Over the years, naturally occurring CO2 sources have been utilized in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects in the United States. This has presented an opportunity to supplement and gradually replace the high demand for natural CO2 sources with anthropogenic sources. There also exist incentives for operators to become involved in the storage of anthropogenic CO2 within partially depleted reservoirs, in addition to the incremental production oil revenues. These incentives include a wider availability of anthropogenic sources, the reduction of emissions to meet regulatory requirements, tax incentives in some jurisdictions, and favorable public relations. The United States Department of Energy has sponsored several Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnerships (RCSPs) through its Carbon Storage program which have conducted field demonstrations for both EOR and saline aquifer storage. Various research efforts have been made in the area of reservoir characterization, monitoring, verification and accounting, simulation, and risk assessment to ascertain long-term storage potential within the subject storage complex. This book is a collection of lessons learned through the RCSP program within the Southwest Region of the United States. The scope of the book includes site characterization, storage modeling, monitoring verification reporting (MRV), risk assessment and international case studies.

This special issue aims to contribute to the climate actions which called for the need to address Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, keeping global warming to well below 2°C through various means, including accelerating renewables, clean fuels, and clean technologies into the entire energy system. As long as fossil fuels (coal, gas and oil) are still used in the foreseeable future, it is vital to ensure that these fossil fuels are used cleanly through abated technologies. Financing the clean and energy transition technologies is vital to ensure the smooth transition towards net zero emission by 2050 or beyond. The lack of long¿term financing, the low rate of return, the existence of various risks, and the lack of capacity of market players are major challenges to developing sustainable energy systems. This special collected 17 high-quality empirical studies that assess the challenges for developing secure and sustainable energy systems and provide practical policy recommendations. The editors of this special issue wish to thank the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) for funding several papers that were published in this special issue.
This is a novel and far reaching polyrhythmic theorisation of our collective living with energy in its many natural and technological forms. It provides a distinctive understanding of the urgent challenges of transforming future energy systems into more just and lower carbon configurations.
