"Allāh mentions patience in the Noble Qur'ān more than ninety times." This statement (of Imām Ahmad) shows in a clear fashion the great and prestigious status of Patience; also, to the servants' dire need to practice it in both performing acts of obedience and abandoning acts of disobedience; patience is also required during destined trials to avoid impatience and displeasure. The servant is in need of patience. Patience accompanies the Muslim in all of his circumstances; it is essential in performing acts of obedience, avoiding acts of disobedience, and receiving trials with what pleases Allāh. So how much in need is the Muslim (of this)! Rather, he is in more severe need to adorn himself with patience in all of his circumstances!

The Prophet (May Allāh elevate his rank & grant him peace) said,"Every child is born with a true faith of Islām (i.e. to worship none but Allāh Alone) and his parents convert him to Judaism or Christianity or Magianism, as an animal delivers a perfect baby animal. Do you find it mutilated?" This is a profound and tangible example. Indeed, an animal normally delivers healthy animals free of defect and disease. It does not have any mutilation or a severed hand, ear or foot. That only happens on the part of the animal's owner or guardian, either due to neglect or by action taken directly against the animal.Likewise, the child is born with the true faith of Islām. When he is taught lying, deception, corruption, depravity, or any other evil act, then this goes outside the natural disposition (i.e., Fitrah). This is either caused by poor upbringing, neglect or outside influences from wicked people or companions.

He was most likely born in the month of Rabi' al-Akhir in the year 541 AH/1146 CE. At an early age, his family moved from Jerusalem to the area of the Ab¿ Salih Mosque just outside the eastern gate of Damascus. Then, they moved again to the foot of Mount Qasioun. There, they built an estate, calling it Dar al-Hanabilah (the Abode of the ¿anbalis).The Hafiz had a pious upbringing in Damascus. He began studying and traveling for knowledge, and heard hadiths as well as most of the books from the majority of scholars in Damascus, Alexandria, Jerusalem, Egypt, Baghdad, Harran, Mosul, Isfahan, and Hamadan. His inclination in scholarship was towards hadith.The Sheikh was known for his worship and his generosity. He was also generous and kind to the students of knowledge. He was of keen intellect and insight and had a light on his face. He used all his time in beneficial matters and did not waste a moment. Some of the scholars said, "No one among Ahl al-Sunnah saw him except that he fell in love with him."Hafiz al-Maqdisi passed away in Cairo in the month of Rab¿¿ al-Awwal in the year 600 AH. He was just under sixty years old. He was buried in the Qarafah graveyard in Egypt.

This is a tremendous book which is derived from two lectures of the Shaykh (May Allah protect him) and describes in detail the benefits of remembrance of Allah and also explains the Authentic Hadeeth of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "There is no-one who is afflicted by distress and grief, and says: 'Allahumma inni 'abduka ibn 'abdika ibn amatika naasyati bi yadika, maada fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qadaa'uka. As'aluka bi kulli ismin huwa laka sammayta bihi nafsaka aw anzaltahu fi kitaabika aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghayb 'indaka an taj'al al-Qur'aana rabee' qalbi wa noor sadri wa jalaa' huzni wa dhihaab hamm' but Allah will take away his distress and grief, and replace it with joy."

A brief treatise written by the great scholar, Ibn Taymiyya (d. 728/1328), in advice to the Shia. It addresses a series of important topics in the context of the Shi'ite theology and/or culture, such as the rights of Ahlulbayt, the correct approach to the Prophet's companions, the roots of guidance and misguidance, the day of ʿĀshūrāʾ, the alleged Mahdī of the Twelver Shia, and the veneration of tomb shrines.

This book reminds us all how life in this world is temporary. In fact, this transience determines the eternity of the next stage of our journey. Therefore, this book demands that you put aside worldly matters before you read it. This is because only you and Allah are discussed. This narrowing of focus is important so that we quickly realize that life is actually a very personal journey from the world to the grave. Our journey is still very long. All that we build and build in the world will not be a provision, unless it is worth goodness for others and bears fruit in taking us closer to Allah. So, it is wretched for us to only collect a little provision for this very far journey. This book invites us to present ourselves to Allah and fill the rest of our lives with various obedience to the commands of Allah. The Muslim has to guard his tongue and avoid saying things that have been forbidden by Allaah. Among these forbidden things which people often take lightly are gheebah (backbiting). Gheebah or backbiting means speaking about a Muslim in his absence and saying things that he would not like to have spread around or mentioned about him.
