The Internet of things (IoT) refers to the physical objects equipped with software, sensors, processing ability, and other technologies. They communicate and share data with other systems and devices through the Internet or other communication networks. IoT has a wide variety of practical applications ranging from business IoT and consumer IoT to industrial and manufacturing IoT. 5G wireless networks can be utilized to connect a large number of IoT devices, and meet its high communication requirements, even when the objects are in motion. 5G has three features that are helpful for supporting specific components of IoT, which include ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), and massive machine type communications (mMTC). Optical fibre is used as a medium to transmit the light signals from one place to another. Optical fibre communication is a communication method wherein the signal is transmitted in the form of light. The fibre wires are preferred over the copper wires for transmitting signals because they offer numerous advantages over electrical cables. An antenna is the interface between the radio waves propagating through space and the electric currents flowing in metal conductors. It is utilized in conjunction with a transmitter or receiver. It can be built to transmit and receive radio waves preferentially in one direction or equally in all horizontal directions. Antennas are necessary for wireless communication systems to function properly at both the transmitter and receiver ends. The rapid development of wireless communication systems has in turn led to the development of innovative antenna technologies such as meta-material antennas, diversity antennas, smart antennas, and various software-defined antenna systems that are making their way onto the market to support modern wireless communication. Smart antenna is an antenna array with digital signal processing algorithms, which identify spatial signatures, which in turn are used by the smart antenna to calculate beamforming vectors that are used to track and locate the antenna beam on a mobile or target. In recent times, the growth of mobile devices (especially smartphones) is phenomenal.These devices support Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity. Further, they are equippedwith good computing power and memory. Because of this, an entirely new networkparadigm has emerged in which encounters between these mobile devices can be exploitedfor opportunistic data transfer without using any fixed network infrastructure[5]. Thisopportunistic network paradigm is called Pocket Switched Network (PSN) as we carrysmartphones in our pockets. Message broadcast, news spread, traffic updates, microbloggingand peer-to-peer file sharing are some of the applications which can run on suchtype of network. Further, it can significantly offload infrastructure based networks suchas cellular network and infrastructure based Wifi network and reduce data cost for usersconsiderably[6].As these devices are carried by humans, their encounter patterns depend on humanmobility patterns. Thus, knowledge of human movement behaviour and social structurecan be exploited for efficient peer-to-peer communication[7, 8]. As a result, this networkparadigm is also called Mobile Social Network (MSN).

While the 5th Generation (5G) system is being widely deployed across the globe, the information and communication technology (ICT) industry, research, standardization and consensus building for the 6th generation (6G) are already well underway with high expectations towards the merger of digital, physical, and human worlds.
