Julia Fox is a person I knew nothing about. I remember her popping up and suddenly becoming the newest talk of the town and the only insight I had about her, where the spiteful short videos all over socials that didn't paint the prettiest (or cleverest) picture of her.

Her bold latex looks and browless face, and mostly seeing her in the company of "the artist", had me foolishly think she wasn't worth while.

Down the Drain is a memoir, which is why I treat it as such and won't fault Julia for overlooking her own wrongdoings. All artists and creatives have a way of looking at life, and their own experiences, and you just have to take them with a grain of salt. It is clear that Julia has a flamboyant soul and even those who are the exact opposite can't possibly be perfectly introspective.

I was amused by the countless numbers of "best friends" that suddenly appear, very timely, in the book without them being introduced at any point beforehand. However, with a life like Julia's, how can you possibly fit it all in under four-hundred pages?
Her story is insane, her story seems unreal, but nonetheless she has kept herself going, done whatever to survive. I applaud her for that.

I felt tired and whiplashed when I read the last pages. Looking back, it was as if I had read or seen 5 movies all at once. For good measure, I'll hide this under spoilers:
Julia's past has been a whirlwind of experiences that could be dealt to five different people and they each would still have been through a lot. Her life as an addict for one. Her life as a dominatrix for the second. Her life in the Goddamn bayou for a third. Her life in the artsy New York limelight for a fourth. Her life as a movie star for a fifth... And honestly, I could go on. I haven't even mentioned her time in Italy, her relationship with "Rohan", "Ace", and so much more.

I have become completely fascinated by Julia and I could honestly reread her memoir at some point once again. It was that good.
