Bag om Effects of Domestic Activities on Microorganisms in Nworie River
Microorganisms are ubiquitous in nature, hence they can be found anywhere; be it sea, air, soil, etc. Nworie river is a major river in Owerri metropolis and it serves several purposes for the inhabitants of Owerri. Due to its uses, Microorganisms can easily dwell and reproduce themselves in masses there. Domestic Activities like washing and open defecation, even sewage and refuse disposal that take place in the river tend to make microorganisms in the river to multiply, migrate or form spores in adverse situations, thus making the river unfit for human and animal consumption. Consuming such water could lead to cholera, diahrea, gastro enteritis, and so on. It is therefore pertinent to note that before Nworie river could be used in domestic activities, it must undergo some purification processes first.
