This companion text augments the study of the biology text, "Biology: Exploring Life." covering basic principles of bacteria, fungi and protists. It would be helpful for any person interested in working in fields of microbiology. With the accompanying Learning Guide, the student is directed to various online videos and science practicals, and given many practical activities, such as making a Gram stain, preparing cultures, growing and isolating bacteria, and making a Winogradsky column. Access to a science lab us needed. This is best done after the Ecology and Sustainability course; also recommended are the Exploring the Plant World, and the Exploring Animal Diversity courses.
