Whereas the Book of Vayikra focuses on building proper vessels for holding the original light of creation, transformed into a holy fire in the Book of Shemot, the main theme of the Book of Bamidbar is integrating these lights and vessels into our lives. No longer is the external light, fire and candelabra the focus, but rather the human eye that sees and perceives these divine reflections. During their trying wilderness wanderings, the Israelites were struggling with integrating inner vision, which brings about true emunah (faith). Eventually, they learned to look beyond the façade of their trials and tribulations and tune into Hashem's concealed Indwelling Presence accompanying them every step on their way. This gave them the ability to elevate the fallen sparks trapped in the various stations of their journey. Parasha Meditations: Bamidbar teaches us likewise to extract holy sparks by developing inner vision in every situation we are placed, and to actively search for the divine goodness within our surroundings and within ourselves.

While the Book of Bereishit described how our Patriarchs and Matriarchs endeavored to return the lost the light of Eden, and the Book of Shemot transformed this light into a holy fire; the focus in the Book of Vayikra is building proper vessels. The Book of Vayikra is about establishing true relationships both with other people and with G*d, following the example of Moshe, our teacher, who reached the ultimate relationship with Hashem. The foundation of a good relationship is good communication. Thus, the Book of Vayikra opens with Hashem's calling to Moshe from the Tent of Meeting, expressing His love and desire for an ongoing, continuous, open relationship with Moshe and the Jewish people. Our speech is our main vehicle of communication through which we rectify every relationship. By gaining complete freedom from both our external and internal enemies, we will be ready to form the highest and deepest relationship with Hashem and walk upright eye-to-eye with G*d in our Holy Land. I have faith that this third book of Parasha Meditations will help bring us closer to consummate such relationship.

The Book of Bereishit described how our holy Patriarchs and Matriarchs focused on getting back in touch with he lost Light of the Garden and then returning this Supernal Light to the world. In the Book of Shemot, the light of our holy Fathers and Mothers expands further and becomes transformed into the fire of the Nation of Israel. This fire of passion for holiness has kept our nation alive against all odds for thousands of years. The goal of Parasha Meditations: Shemot is to keep this holy fire burning strongly in our hearts.

Each of the Five Books of Moshe builds upon one another, culminating in the final Book of Devarim - The Book of the Covenant. The lights of creation of Bereishit, transformed into the holy fire of Shemot, contained in the vessels of Vayikra, are beginning to integrate in the Book of Bamidbar, through divine reflections perceived by the human eye. As we reach the final Book of Devarim, we focus to internalize and refine this integration even further. While the public roles of the Jewish people, the Levites and the Kohanim have already been defined in the Book of Bamidbar, now is the time to truly turn the vision of Israel into reality by each of us getting in touch with our personal mission and refining our character accordingly. As we stand at the verge of entering the Holy Land, it is paramount that we allow Hashem's Holy Torah to penetrate every fiber of our being, from top to toe.

This book does not attempt to give you an overview of each of the Torah portions. Rather than offering the breadth and scope of the entire parasha, we deliberately delve into a particular concept that can be integrated into the very fibers of our existence. Each meditation takes only five to ten minutes, so even the busiest among us may find time to sit down with our souls, mindfully relaxing and opening ourselves to allow the Torah of the times to enter into our spirit, emotions and superconscious mind. You may choose to do the meditation with a partner, reading the meditation aloud to one another, or to record your own reading so you can leisurely listen and enjoy the meditations without having to look in the book. Alternatively, I have prepared downloadable recordings of each of the meditations available upon request.
At the time of Mashiach the lower will become higher and the hidden inner layer of reality will be revealed.¿ As we move forward in the Messianic age, we experience an increased interest in women¿s role of bringing about the ¿nal redemption. Ruth, the mother of royalty, is the perfect role model and inspiration for women who aspire to follow her path of righteousness and make a di¿erence in the world. She is particularly a role model for the many righteous converts who join the Jewish people at this time, before we reach the epoch when converts will no longer be accepted. The Scroll of Ruth takes place in the Land of Israel, during the bleak period of the Judges when there was a lack of unity and central leadership. This period parallels our current era, about which the following can also be ascribed: ¿In these days there is no king in Israel (Shoftim 17:6); each person does whatever is straight in his own eyes.¿
