Another poetical travel adventure this time to Washington, DC and with the dog! Of course there were all sorts of exciting things to see in the big city. The Supreme Court, the Library of Congress, the Court of Neptune, the Capitol building and more. If you have never been to Washington, DC or if you have been to Washington, DC then you've never experienced it quite like you would with a dog! I used to live in Washington, DC. It's different to be on vacation than to live somewhere. Experiencing the nation's capital with the dog made it all unique and fun! Come along and see what we were up to in the big city!

This poetry book was written on the way to Florida for Spring break. We went to a place we'd been before - an island near Yulee, Florida. We drove through South Carolina and Georgia to get there. The weather was great - we spent a good deal of time by the pool, my favorite place to be! Sitting on the beach, I enjoyed watching all the planes fly over and I also liked getting up to see the sunrise - it was spectacular. Our dog is a good travel buddy. He loves running on the beach, watching the waves, and visiting the very dog friendly, The Fountain of Youth. He takes it all in stride. For the first time, we tried fishing on the Fishing Bridge and also mini golf with an odd assortment of interesting hole plays. The south offers many opportunities for interesting travel adventures. Fishing is like poetry in a way - there's a lot of waiting and observing and there's a lot to tell about later whether it be true or made up. When I was a kid I fished. We used bamboo poles we made using bamboo from our back yard. We used bread crumbs for bait. Eventually I got a real fishing pole. I still used bread crumbs for bait. If we caught a fish, we'd throw it back! Funny thing is I've never liked to eat fish - no seafood, period! I have tried it. I do not like it. Not any of it ...ever. Fishing has gotten a lot more complicated (I used that word laughingly) since I was a kid. There are stores with aisles devoted to lures, hooks and baits. (There's a difference?) I hope you enjoy my fishing poems. And after you are done reading, grab a notebook and pen or your tablet, a fishing pole and some bait (bread, corn, worms - ick!) and go fish!

Asheville, NC is a beautiful place. For those of you who have never seen pictures or have been there, it's nestled in the mountains, and probably best known for that house that is America's largest home. What else is there about Asheville, that creates such a draw? It usually enjoys all seasons, and is cool all year long with exceptions being winter and summer. It's scenic. Is there anywhere in Asheville without a perfect view? It's got a vibrant downtown and Arts scene. There are eateries galore with microbreweries and stores aplenty. There's outdoor sports, museums, art events, and historical spots you won't want to miss. You can do something different every trip, find something for everyone in your family to do that they like, and enjoy great food and maybe find a souvenir or two!Asheville aka AshVegas is a place you may want to visit again and again or never leave!

Excerpts from the book: "There's more than one kind of ukulele. Tuning one of them is just like tuning some of the strings on a guitar. All of them: soprano, baritone, pineapple sound different. ""Ice doesn't melt in the shade even when it gets warmer. ""Everyone is a winner! I got a winning flyer for a new car or $25K and another one in a different box where I get mail! Yay! I'm a winner! My Mom went to the dealership and they gave her 2 scratch off tickets. I told her later the fine print says void if there's a misprint or error on the scratch off mailer - i.e. everyone gets the winning number. I am not a winner!""There's a mailbox at the end of Sunset Beach a few miles past the pier. It's stuck up in a corner. People leave notes for their loved ones. It's a beautiful view of the ocean, the sound, and the mail always needs to be collected even though no one is collecting it.""It's Halloween! The last day of October! Time for trick or treating and such fun. We do trick or treat. I don't particularly like candy unless it has peanuts or peanut nougat in it. I'd rather have something salty! We have had a pumpkin sitting on the kitchen table that had to be thrown out - it was a small one. The big one outside we just never did decorate or carve! I have one of those pumpkin carving kits, but I haven't used it in a while. Instead we have a blow up inflatable purple dragon that breathes fire! Much better than any old pumpkin! Happy Trick or Treating day - happy adventures with dragons! May all your dragons be princesses ready to be saved (or princes)! Thank you to my favorite poet, Rainer Maria Rilke, for letting me borrow his line, well sort of!"

Sometimes physical evidence is left behind. This pack is unusual, though, because they come back. It's best to make peace with them just in case you come face to face with one." First of all, it is not easy to become a Lifeguard. You have to learn / study / be tested on 300+ pages of material - a Lifeguard test and a CPR test plus the swim test. It's mentally and physically demanding training! (At least it was for me.) One of the ways I made it through was to write about it. So this is my poetical version of Lifeguard training so don't use this to study by if you are taking Lifeguard training! I am very proud to be a certified Lifeguard as I absolutely love the water. Am I a certified Lifeguard? I can proudly say - "Yes, I am!"
