During forty plus years as a Cumberland Presbyterian pastor, I probably have heard it at least a score of times. People have said, when somehow becoming acquainted with the Cumberland Presbyterian Confession of Faith, something like this, "Wow! Cumberland Presbyterians have a really good theology." Or, "This is what I always have believed, but I didn't know it." Or, "This is a theology with which I can be comfortable." These kinds of comments have been made by new members of a congregation, some who have come from other church backgrounds, from candidates for the ordained ministry, from ministers transferring from other denominations, and from friendly readers of our theology.
