Reading detective Maxine Hill has plenty of relatives, but her little cousin, Lily Mae Green, is very unusual because she spends a lot of time in her backyard exploring insects and birds with her dog, Jaxon. Before the school year ends Lily decides to plant a garden. Lily finds herself in an unusual situation when she meets a little pink ladybug named LaVida who teaches her some very important things about life.
