Bag om New Sires of 2019
One of the fascinating aspects of the thoroughbred breeding season is to see how the new recruits settle in and how they are supported. Another is to see the first foals by the previous year's newcomers.
In 2019, there are more than 40 new stallions for breeders to consider, 10 in Ireland, 18 in the UK, and 14 in France. They include classic heroes, sprinters, milers, middle-distances horses, a champion stayer, two-year-old stars, an established Australian Group 1 sire making the journey north for the first time, and even one of last year's top young hurdlers.
The race record and pedigree of each are reviewed, along with comments on their future prospects. There is also a series of indexes in which they are organised: by stud, sire, grandsire, great-grandsire, broodmare sire, date of their earliest win, the highest grade in which they won, the distances over which they won group races, the ages at which they achieved those feats, the going on which they got those wins, and by their fee.
