Lewis believes that everyone should have every opportunity to share in the American Dream and he is fairly convinced that when Black people are born they are born at a disadvantage. Lewis has lived the story of a thousand men in his lifetime and his book, filled with practical advice, criticisms, and discontent, is meant to be helpful and supportive of black people.
