Our changing climate - Namrata Chouhan - Bog

Bag om Our changing climate

The changing climate has declined the production of oilseeds by 13.7% and future climate change is projected to have increased concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere. Between 2030 and 2052, atmospheric CO2 concentration is likely to reach 450-600 ¿mol/mol if it continues to increase at the current rate. Thus, it becomes imperative to study the effects of increasing CO2 levels on crops, microorganisms and soil to predict future plant and microorganism response as to maintain higher crop productivity of major crops like groundnut. Most of the studies are focused on the aboveground plant processes and comparatively little information is available on the impacts of increased CO2 levels on the below ground processes. Therefore, taking into account these facts this book represents the results obtained from M.Sc. research work about productivity, quality & soil fertility with elevated CO2. This also emphasizes on improving our understanding of soil-microbe interaction and their effects on yield and quality of the produce under higher level of carbon dioxide.
