Han er født i 1966 og har siden sin barndom været optaget af, hvordan han kan få folk til at grine. I dag er hans bøger netop med til at give børn og voksne et stort smil på, når de læser om de skøre karakterer i Pilkeys univers. Dav Plikey bor med sin hustru nær Seattle i Washington, men tilbringer halvdelen af sin tid i Japan, hvor hans tegneserier oplever stor popularitet.
