Slovenly Peter (1918) - Heinrich Hoffmann - Bog

Bag om Slovenly Peter (1918)

Slovenly Peter is a children's book originally published in German in 1845, written by Heinrich Hoffmann. The book is a collection of cautionary tales, each with a moral lesson, aimed at teaching children good behavior and manners. The tales are told through the misadventures of a boy named Peter, who is often lazy, disobedient, or rude. Some of the stories include Peter refusing to take a bath and becoming covered in dirt and insects, Peter playing with matches and accidentally setting himself on fire, and Peter refusing to eat his soup and becoming so thin he is blown away by the wind. The book was originally intended to be a Christmas gift for Hoffmann's son, but it became popular with other children and has since been translated into many languages. The 1918 English edition includes illustrations by Fritz Kredel that add to the whimsical and humorous tone of the stories. Despite its age, Slovenly Peter remains a classic children's book that continues to be enjoyed by generations of readers. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
