Collecting and analysing for the first time in the field of legal studies a large number of primary ancient sources in the original and in translation, this volume opens an interdisciplinary pathway of scholarship into the 'foundations' of ancient legal history and invites a new and comprehensive understanding of the Western legal tradition.
