He attended law school at the University of Texas at Austin where his research in Spanish archives led to his interest and fascination with the Hispanic connection to the Arab culture. James K. Omiya is a second generation Japanese-American from El Paso, Texas. He is a writer and graphic designer who has lived in Texas all his adult life.
