The Ultrastealth Debacle - Gary Edwards - Bog

Bag om The Ultrastealth Debacle

In February 2040, a commercial airliner has disintegrated in midair and mysterious explosions have rocked industrial plants in several U.S. cities. As the President and civil and military investigators scramble to find out exactly what happened, an obscure terrorist group calling itself Alnidal Almuqadas claims to have gotten ahold of two of the United States' newest and most sophisticated fighter aircraft, and threatens to use them to attack more major American cities. Known as the F-37 "Ultrastealth", the plane is the latest generation of stealth aircraft in the U.S. arsenal, and is virtually invisible to all known radar and Lidar systems. It is impossible to track, and can attack and disappear without warning. Just when it seems that the situation can't get any worse, it suddenly turns much deadlier as Al Alm releases an Internet video claiming also to have acquired a nuclear weapon and threatening to use the planes to drop it on a major American city. Widespread public panic sets in and pressure builds on the President and the National Security Team to locate and retrieve the missing aircraft. The FBI and CIA cooperate with the National Reconnaissance Office, the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency and the Secret Service in a desperate search for the bomb and the missing planes. But Kevin Watts, a newspaper reporter and former speech-writer to the President, discovers information that dramatically changes the problem and raises the stakes. The situation has now become a truly existential threat to the country. The fast moving plot takes numerous twists and turns that will shock you, with an ending that no one could have anticipated.
