Bag om Vignettes on the Life Side
This is the seventh book in Michael Williams' "Adventures with Michael" series that recaps events during his life. This book is different from other books in the series because it provides vignettes on various situations Michael has encountered. Included are vignettes from Michael's time in the army which has scenes and humor similar to the movie and television series M.A.S.H. It also reviews some of the difficult aspects all Americans faced during the Vietnam War. The section on running races in Riyadh provides descriptions of racing in the desert and the effects of some unusual circumstances not typically encountered in U.S. road racing. The section on mountain climbing describes 12 experiences. Some of the challenges faced - such as falling in a crevasse or being abandoned on a mountain - provide insights into what it is like to attempt to climb mountains for someone who is a professional economist and not a professional mountaineer. This book is personal as you get a sense of the manner in which Michael responded to various challenges. Michael has been keeping a daily journal since 1980 and the specifics for his racing and mountain climbing vignettes come directly from these journals.
