Bag om Virginia
""Virginia: A Tragedy"" is a play written by Samuel Crisp in 1754. The play is set in Virginia during the 17th century and tells the story of a wealthy plantation owner named Orlando who falls in love with his indentured servant, Monimia. Despite their mutual love, their relationship is forbidden by society's strict class and race barriers. Orlando's father, Sir Thomas, arranges for him to marry a wealthy heiress, Celinda, in order to secure his family's financial future. Monimia, devastated by Orlando's betrayal, takes her own life. The play explores themes of love, social class, and the destructive consequences of societal norms. It is considered one of the earliest examples of American literature and a significant work in the development of American drama. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
