The brain must be educated through the hand. Work Education provides the basis for building up proper attitudes towards work developing favorable work values and habits, imparting necessary knowledge related to work, and developing appropriate work skills, which can help the students to become productive and self-reliant in meeting their day-to-day needs and those of their families and communities. First Rathindranath Tagore, Rajagopal Acharya and Sarajani Naidu organized Vinaya-Bhavana being a teachers training institute in 1946 and then established in 1948 as Art and Craft and Music Teachers' Training centre and subsequently developed as a full-fledged Teachers' Training College in 1951, has the objective of training teachers for secondary schools as well as academicians committed to the cause of education in its various forms; offers B.Ed. programme of quality and has an active research cell. Till now our different teachers (Biplab Kumar Chatterjee of horticulture, Partha Pratim Sikdar of artistic handicraft, Ananda Gopal Pal of wood craft, Prabir Laha of weaving) are nourishing the environment of work education in this institution through their developmental thinking.
