After Max mysteriously disappears chasing a strange creature, Dan and Jake go in search of him. They find themselves transported to another dimension where the Wormwood Comet has impacted the Earth and initiated a nuclear winter. To make matters worse, the comet's passing has caused a catastrophic situation that will ultimately destroy the alternate Earth upon which they have arrived. With Max's help, they need to find a mysterious girl who is the key to interdimensional travel.
