Bag om Zastrozzi
Zastrozzi is a Gothic novel written by Percy Bysshe Shelley, published in 1810. The novel tells the story of Verezzi, a young man seeking revenge against Zastrozzi, a mysterious and dangerous man who murdered his mother. Verezzi embarks on a journey across Europe to track down Zastrozzi and bring him to justice. Along the way, he meets and falls in love with a beautiful woman named Matilda, who is also seeking vengeance against Zastrozzi. As Verezzi gets closer to his target, he becomes increasingly consumed by his desire for revenge and his own inner demons. The novel is full of dark and atmospheric imagery, exploring themes of revenge, obsession, and the destructive power of desire. Shelley's writing style is highly poetic and evocative, with a strong emphasis on the emotions and psychological states of his characters. Zastrozzi is considered one of the earliest examples of the Gothic genre, and an important work in Shelley's early career as a writer.Scarcely knowing where he was, or what to believe, for a few moments Verezzi stood bewildered, and unable to arrange the confusion of ideas which floated in his brain, and assailed his terror-struck imagination. He knew not what to believe --what phantom it could be that, in the shape of Zastrozzi, blasted his straining eye-balls--Could it really be Zastrozzi? Could his most rancorous, his bitterest enemy, be thus beloved, thus confided in, by the perfidious Matilda? This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
