Against All Odds – Historical Women and New Algorithms explores the lives and works of 24 Nordic artists around 1900 through pioneering combinations of historical reinscribing and new technology. These women defied the gender norms of their time, formed their own communities across Europe and succeeded against all odds. Later, several were written out of art history. Why? Is it possible to write these women into the narrative that excluded them without changing the story? Discover how technology, critical thinking and art merge in a tribute to pioneers of the past. Through cross-aesthetic approaches, immersive installations and AI-generated dialogues, the exhibition and catalogue challenge our understanding of the past and open new perspectives on art history.
In her sculptures, installations, films, and interventions in public spaces, Croatian artist Luiza Margan explores the disparity between officially recorded history and history which is invisible. She questions the ways in which power structures and ideological systems are etched into the public sphere and interwoven into collective memory. The installation Cache, created in the course of the Artist-in-Residence-Program of the ZF Kunststiftung, examines the traces of National Socialist rule left in the city of Friedrichshafen. The title alludes to a hidden location, a concealed storehouse for information.
The artist duo Michael Elmgreen & Ingar Dragset continues to devise new ways of presenting and perceiving art through their subversive and versatile work. The updated and expanded edition of Elmgreen & Dragset: Sculptures is the most comprehensive study to date of the duo's sculptures from the mid-1990s to the present day. Visually designed to reflect the aesthetic and concep-tual working methods developed by the artist duo over the course of their careers, the book features detailed photographic documentation as well as four seminalessays on the artist duo's oeuvre. MICHAEL ELMGREEN (*Denmark) and INGAR DRAGSET (*Norway) have been working together since 1995. Their work explores socio-cultural and political themes such as the challenges of growing up, queer issues, the construction of identity, consumer culture, and the privatization of public space. The artist duo has received numerous prizes, including the Preis der Nationalgalerie in Berlin (2002) and a Special Mention at the Venice Biennale (2009).
This publication gives a comprehensive overview of the work of Italian artist Alberto Garutti. His innovative oeuvre, consisting primarily of sculptures, installations, and works in public space, explores site-specificity along with its social realities and historical contexts. With the artistic and methodological strategies he has employed since the 1990s, he has revolutionized the vocabulary of public and site-specific art. ALBERTO GARUTTI (1948-2023) has been a key figure on the Italian and European contemporary art scene of the last forty years. Since the early 1990s, Garutti's practice has evolved into a radical manifesto for public art. His works in the urban context-commissioned by cities and institutions around the world-are meant to be open devices for reimaging. As a practitioner of public art and a teacher at the Academy of Brera in Milan and at the IUAV in Venice who has influenced many generations of Italian artists, Alberto Garutti is considered one of the most influential Italian artists of his generation.
In her works, Nina Annabelle Märkl (b. 1979) develops permeable viewing spaces that lie at the interface between drawing, object, and installation. The viewers move through landscape-like settings in modular spatial installations, entering into various dialogues with the works. In addition, through the shift in perspective, they can experience the possibility of seeing themselves in their own observations and can question the structures of their perception. The monograph Scapes unites various strands of Nina Annabelle Märkl's work in the diversity of their links and leaps between drawing and spatiality, which follow on from one another in the diversity of manifestation or interpenetrate one another in individual arrangements.

Conceived as an archive, the book brings together the experiences of Frequencies, a global participatory project initiated by multimedia artist Oscar Murillo in 2013. Part of the artist's multimedia practice, Frequencies addresses the notion of community through the lens of its making. For over a decade, it has involved members of Murillo's family, studio team and collaborators, visiting schools around the globe, fixing raw canvas onto classroom desks, and inviting the students to freely mark, write and draw on them for a period of approximately six months. Murillo has collected an archive of canvases, which he presented in various interactive exhibitions. OSCAR MURILLO (*1986, La Paila, Colombia) has developed a multi-faceted and ambitious practice that spans painting, collaborative projects, video, sound and installation. He received his MFA from the Royal College of Art in 2012 and was one of four artists to collectively win the prestigious Turner Prize in 2019.
This book is a comprehensive tribute to the Polish-Belgian artist Tapta (Maria Wierusz-Kowalska). Her work transcends traditional artistic boundaries, captivating audiences with her innovative exploration of fluid spaces and dynamic interactions. Her work, an important contribution to twentieth century sculpture, is essentially divided into two major sections: the textile works of the 1960s to 1980s and the subsequent neoprene works of the last years of her life. Her practice moved away from traditional weaving through experimental techniques and evolved into three-dimensional works-first made of cords, then of neoprene sheets-that interacted with the space and the viewer. TAPTA (*1926-1997) was born in Poland and came to Belgium as a political refugee with her husband, Krzysztof Wierusz-Kowalski, after taking part in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. She studied weaving at the La Cambre National School of Visual Arts, Brussels, from where she graduated in 1949. Shortly afterwards, the couple moved to the Belgian Congo (now Democratic Republic of the Congo), where they lived from 1950 to 1960. On their return to Belgium in 1960, until her sudden death in 1997, she worked in Brussels as an artist and-from 1976 until 1990-as a professor at La Cambre.
Stanley Schtinter's debut collection, Last Movies, is an alternative account of the first century of cinema according to the films watched by a constellation of its most notable stars shortly before (or at the time of) their deaths. An extensive and exhaustive research project-a holy book of celluloid spiritualism and old canards-Schtinter questions and reconfigures common knowledge to recast the historic column inches of cinema's mythological hearsay into a thousand-yard stare. Via a series of interlinked vignettes, here we've a book in which Manhattan Melodrama, directed by W.S. Van Dyke and George Cukor, is seen by American gangster John Dillinger, only for him to be gunned down by federal agents upon leaving the cinema. In which George Cukor watches The Graduate, and dies thereafter. In which Bette Davis-given her break by Cukor-watches herself in Waterloo Bridge (the 1940 remake Cukor had been meant to direct), before travelling to France and failing to make it back to Hollywood. In which Rainer Werner Fassbinder watches Bette Davis in Michael Curtiz's 20,000 Years in Sing Sing, and suffers the stroke that kills him. In which John F. Kennedy watches From Russia with Love at a private 'casa-blanca' screening prior to the presidential motorcade reaching Dealey Plaza; in which Burt Topper's War is Hell exists only in a fifteen-minute cut, considering this is as much as Lee Harvey Oswald would have seen at the Texas Theatre in the wake of JFK's killing.Including a foreword from Erika Balsom-an 'intermission' by Bill Drummond-and an afterword by Nicole Brenez, Last Movies is a love letter to those that've lived (and died) amidst the patina and glow of cinema's counterpoint to life. Like Hermione Lee 'at the movies,' and redolent of the works of Kenneth Anger, Last Movies antagonises the possibility of survival in an age of extremity and extinction only to underline the degree of accident involved in a culture's relationship with posterity.

For the first time in recent history, a publication on Alberto Giacometti and his work is being released in Denmark. The book is published in connection with the exhibition "Alberto Giacometti – What Meets the Eye" and has been created through an exclusive collaboration between the Fondation Giacometti in Paris and SMK in Copenhagen. In the catalog, readers get up close to Giacometti's works and the research concept behind the exhibition. The catalog includes key, newly translated original texts by philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre and Giacometti himself, along with four current articles by Danish and French researchers. Notably, it also features illustrations of the exhibition's works in a new, improved quality, presented in a way that supports the research points and the exhibition's concept. The focal point is Giacometti's break with the surrealist environment, of which he was a part until 1934-35, and the affinity seen between his late work and post-war phenomenologically inspired thinkers such as Simone de Beauvoir, Jean-Paul Sartre, and Maurice Merleau-Ponty. In addition to presenting the thinking and experiences that underlie Giacometti's artistic method, the book also provides insight into post-war Paris, the places, and personalities that Giacometti surrounded himself with.
"Bilder im Kopf, Körper im Raum"- Franz Erhard Walther Action As Sculpture In the early 1960s, Franz Erhard Walther (b. Fulda, 1939; lives and works in Fulda), moving in the orbit of the Minimal Art movement, devised an open conception of art that involves the beholders as active participants. His understanding of their actions as the actual work would inspire entire generations of artists. In recognition of his abiding influence and relevance to contemporary art and in celebration of his eighty-fifth birthday, the Bundeskunsthalle is planning a grand exhibition surveying his oeuvre to be held in 2024. Produced in cooperation with the Franz Erhard Walther Foundation, the exhibition presents a focused and representative selection of action-based works as well as drawings from different periods that provide "inside views" and documentary footage. Visitors will be encouraged to activate the exhibition copies produced especially for the occasion. In the interaction between body and object, everyone becomes part of the work of art. The catalogue features an extensive image section and a text part with wide-ranging and in-depth essays by Selen Ansen, Luisa Fink, Gregor Quack, Erik Verhagen, Peter Weibel, and others.
Ballet, Dressage, Baroque in Service to Feminism Rose English (b. Hereford, UK, 1950) developed her singular practice surrounded by the conceptual art of the 1970s, which remains seminal today, and in the orbit of the feminist avant-garde. Boasting an extraordinarily diverse oeuvre, she ranks among the most influential performance artists of our time. Her art combines elements of theater, circus, opera, comedy, and poetry for an interdisciplinary investigation of themes including the politics of gender, the identities of performers, and the metaphysics of presence-the true nature of performance. Many of her works have been collaborative productions involving a large cast of participants such as musicians, singers, dancers, filmmakers, circus artists, magicians, and even dressage horses. The publication Memory Theatre is released on occasion of English's solo exhibition at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg. Presenting an exploratory survey of the artist's oeuvre, which now spans five decades, the richly illustrated catalogue contains extensive documentation as well as essays by Connie Butler, Paul Clinton, Nicole Haitzinger, Lisa Moravec, Marijana Schneider, and Amy Tobin.
"The first catalogue raisonnâe on influential artist Tony Smith, to be released with a companion book of critical commentary: Against Reason, a new model expanding the conventional catalogue raisonnâe"--

In the unique scene of the gaming business, the disclosure of consolidations and acquisitions among gaming monsters has sent shockwaves through the virtual domains, reshaping the actual groundworks of advanced amusement. The essential moves of these industry behemoths stand out enough to be noticed of ardent gamers yet have likewise ignited conversations and hypotheses among industry investigators. One of the most unmistakable consolidations to rise out of this gaming adventure is the association of two impressive titans, each with a distinguished history of making vivid gaming encounters. The consolidation between MegaGame Corp and PixelPlay Elements has made way for an enormous cooperation that vows to reclassify the limits of virtual domains. MegaGame Corp, eminent for its blockbuster establishments and state of the art innovation, works together with PixelPlay Elements, a pioneer in imaginative interactivity mechanics and outwardly staggering designs. The declaration of this consolidation has lighted expectation among gaming devotees around the world, as they enthusiastically anticipate the divulging of notable ventures that might actually reshape the gaming scene. The cooperative energies between MegaGame Corp and PixelPlay Elements are supposed to bring about a combination of imaginative gifts, mechanical ability, and an immense range of scholarly properties that could set new benchmarks in the gaming business. At the same time, one more critical improvement has happened in the domain of gaming partnerships, as Cosmic Gaming Adventures obtains Virtual Domains Studios.
