Feeling bored with your Christian walk? Looking for a fuller spiritual experience? Believe it or not, what you need is more of Christ himself. The little book of Colossians is packed full of big truths that the Spirit can use to wake up a dull heart. Listen to Paul as he rehearses the beauty, power, and supremacy of Christ. Let the Spirit call you to a walk worthy of the beautiful Jesus, for whom and by whom all things were made."Christine and Hope have done it again! They break down studying a book of the Bible into bite-sized chunks without sacrificing the quality and depth. In each study they will guide you into studying the word, learning about its context, and then applying it to your life. Colossians is an incredible book that shows us we don't have to add trappings to our faith to give it value. The work we do daily is how the Holy Spirit pours out to build the kingdom of God." - Elizabeth Santlemann, founder of Sunshine in my Nest Podcast"Do you ever feel like something is missing in your spiritual life? Do you feel hungry, dissatisfied, or, dare I say, bored in your walk of faith? This study invites you to gaze upon the One in whom life is found, exalting Christ on every page. Hope and Christine walk through the book of Colossians in a way that is faithful, rich, and accessible, and I commend this study to anyone seeking greater joy in Jesus." - Joanna Kimbrel, Coordinator of Women's Initiatives for The Gospel Coalition, Co-author of Behold and Believe: A Bible Study on the I Am Statements of JesusChristine B. Do you think you know about Noah's Flood: where it occurred; when it occurred; whether it was a natural event; a world flood; and what happened after the flood? Then the answers in this book may surprise you! While there are many flood stories from around the world, this book focuses on Noah's Flood as described in the Book of Genesis from The Old Testament.About 14,700 years ago, as the Earth came out of the ice age, eight-mile-high glaciers in eastern Antarctica began melting and calving into the Indian ocean. The resulting mega-tsunamis traveled northward up the Persian Gulf and through the valley formed by the Tigris-Euphrates river system. Noah, an ancient Sumerian, was carried Noah northwest along the Tigris-Euphrates flood plain into southeastern Turkey. He and his descendants eventually settled in and around ¿anl¿urfa (Urfa), which claims to be Abraham's birthplace. It is located in the northwest corner of the present-day Harran Plain in Turkey. There, Noah and his descendants built monolithic temples to their pantheon of gods.Gobekli Tepe, only recently discovered, overlooks Harran Plain and is considered to be a site of religious temples. It has been dated to be over 13,000 years old (the oldest monolithic structure known). It is from this location that agriculture began 12,000 years ago. Perhaps as Noah's three sons and their descendants migrated; Ham (Africa), Seth (Arabian Peninsula), and Japheth (west into Greece and east into Persia and India), they carried with them the knowledge of agriculture. It is amazing how well the scientific data presented in this book fits with Genesis and ancient stories such as the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh and the older Babylonian epic of Atra-Hasis.If you think you know Noah's story then you should read this book.

When Gill Freedman and her husband Jeremy decided to move to a smallholding in rural Bedfordshire many of their friends and family thought they were mad.How could they leave behind the comforts of North London? What did they really know about raising chickens, sheep, cows and goats and growing fruit and vegetables? How would they cope with the mud, the wet and the cold? And how would they be able to observe their Jewish faith so far from the centres of Judaism in England?Jews Milk Goats is the story of the trials and tribulations of a couple carrying out their day-to-day activity on a busy smallholding while also maintaining their Jewish way of life. Interweaving the Jewish Calendar and the rhythm of the farming year Gill also explores the chequered experience and treatment of the Jews throughout English history.Jews Milk Goats shows how hard work, dedication, good humour and faith can lead to a life that is joyous, rich and full of adventure.
Initially, 'The Crown or The Clown' was written to inspire single females yearning for a husband. Unknowingly, my egoistically arranged path to their desire was for them to wait on that god-ordained relationship that was intended specifically for them. However, in writing 'The Crown or The Clown', I was reminded of my personal journeys, my hills and valleys, my unsuccessful paths, and subsequent consequences while I was seeking what I perceived as that "perfect" attainable relationship. I was humbled, contrite and yielded to the direction of the Holy Spirit as I moved forward in writing 'The Crown or The Clown'. You see, I then understood and accepted God's Will...God's Way.My prayer is that as the reader goes through each page, absorbs each experience of my journeys, and faithfully participates in each activity from the beginning to the end, they will attain a soul-rendering illumination of the gospel. My hope is for each reader to have their own individual experiences of 1). A sincere release and self-forgiveness from the bondages of the past, 2). A complete wholeness of who they truly are and who they belong to spiritually, and 3). The authentic acceptance that the desires of their heart comes when they have a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ. Only then can they be open and obedient to the biblically based desires for a purposed, destined and ordained relationship intended for them through Jesus Christ.
It was always my desire to be in a marriage relationship with both parties loving and respecting one another. It was also important to me that both of us have a relationship with Christ Jesus. I thought I had that when I married a man of God who was a preacher, teacher, and deacon of a church. You would think I married the man of my dreams, but it was not so. I stayed in the relationship for a long time, twenty-eight years before realizing it would not get better. After leaving this marriage, I looked for love but only found deception. Now I have recommitted my life to Christ and am allowing him to bring to me Mr. Right instead of Mr. Right Now.
Enoch never died. One day God took him. The apostle Paul explains later that the heavenly Father spoke Enoch into his heavenly body. And what was so special about Enoch? He had learned how to walk with God. Wouldn't that be a good activity for everyone to learn?

The author discusses why the presence of evil does not contradict the existence of God.
Born in 1836, Edward "Ned" Wright led a life of vice and crime. His days were filled with drinking, smoking, wife-beating, and stealing-even stealing from the dead. It seemed impossible that he could ever reform. But then one night something happened. Out of curiosity, Ned and his wife went into a fancy theater for an "all seats free" program. There they were unexpectedly and powerfully affected by a Gospel presentation during which Ned was carried away into a waking vision of "the most awful tribunal I ever witnessed..."Ned described the experience. "Shivering like an aspen leaf, not daring to raise my head, I felt this to be ten thousand times worse than being tried at the Old Bailey... There was no deceiving the Judge of all the earth, no bringing false witnesses to swear one clear: His eyes were as flames of fire, searching me through.... I knew I was guilty; I felt condemned; and I stood a wretched sinner before the Judge. Then, too, in all that vast assembly, there was no voice raised in my favour-my case was hopeless. I stood in breathless suspense awaiting my sentence; and while trembling and quaking with fear, the scalding tears running down my cheeks, and my heart bursting within me, I heard a voice softly and gently whispering in my ear, 'Look to Jesus; there is pardon and life, through looking to Jesus.' Then I cried in agony of soul, 'Where, oh, where is Jesus?'" By faith, Ned Wright and his wife found Jesus that night. In an undeniable testament to the truth and efficacy of Christianity, Ned was completely transformed. His former energies and genius for evil were turned toward the bringing of life to the poor and criminals of the London metropolis and the surrounding country. Ministering to their needs through "soup suppers," mission rooms, and mothers' meetings, Ned demonstrated and proclaimed the Good News of the God Who so loved the world... with life-changing results. Published in 1871, *Incidents in the Life of Edward Wright* enters Ned's story about ten years after his conversion and ends in the present tense, in the midst of his ongoing and vibrant ministry. This timing allowed the author to confer with Mr. Wright for the accurate and rich telling of story after story of spiritual transformation.About the Scripture Testimony EditionWalking Together Press has enhanced this classic title by identifying and marking portions of the narrative that illustrate specific Biblical topics and verses. What do you classify as a miracle? I hope you will know that my book is about the miracles I have experienced--unbelievable ones. Yes, it is hard for me to believe it, but I believe it's because it happened to me.My prayer is that you will know that Jesus still works miracles. I am a walking miracle. I hear I do not look like what I have been through. Praise God.(I want God to get the glory from my story.) I have had a lot of tests, trials, and tribulations in my seventy-one years of life. But in order to have a testimony, you need to have a test. God knows I have had test after test. I do have a testimony--I am still here in spite of the death sentences that were on me (not twice, but three times) (but God).Everybody goes through things, but some are not death sentences like mine were. I will never give up and I can't give in. Never will I turn back. No, no, no. God has been too good to me. I want to share my story because hopefully it will help someone along the way. They could say, "If she made it through, I, too, can." I know God wants me to share this story. Hopefully it will inspire you. When I was going through my test, I was never afraid, although it could have been the end of my life, I am so grateful it wasn't. I stuck to God's Word, kept repeating them to myself over and over. God has not given me a spirit of fear but of love, power, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). He also said in his Word, "Fear not for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God, I will strengthen you and help you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand" (Isaiah 41:10). I also repeated Psalm 23:4 often, "Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." So many scriptures kept me looking unto the hills from which cometh my help because I knew my help came from the Lord who made the heavens and the earth. This scripture would enter my thought process really often. And as Psalm 118:17 says, "I shall live and not die and proclaim God's glory and what the Lord has done" to give me this marvelous testimony. If you are going through something, be encouraged and know that God is faithful, and he takes care of his own.
Born into humble circumstances in nineteenth century Scotland, Mary Slessor's path seemed determined as she began work as a child laborer in a textile mill. Short of stature, blue-eyed, red-haired, and with a fiery personality to match, Mary was made of tough stuff. Even though she worked twelve hours per day, she faithfully attended night school, even bringing books to work, stealing glances as she could. Her homelife was full of conflict and want until her alcoholic father died, after which Mary became the primary breadwinner. These trying circumstances were the refining crucible of Mary's strong character and her deep faith in God, a faith that was modeled by her mother. Mary lived out this faith through teaching and serving the poor-especially the rough children-in the slums of Dundee, Scotland. Even from childhood her sights were set on far-off places. Mary and her family enthusiastically followed the reports of the new Presbyterian mission in Calabar, Nigeria. She said, "It was the dream of my girlhood to be a missionary to Calabar." At age twenty-eight, she was able to join the mission herself, and spent nearly four decades serving the people there.God used Mary Slessor's upbringing to prepare her for life in Africa. She endeared herself to the people by living the way they lived, and eating the food they ate. This was partly because she was used to humble circumstances, but also so that she could economize as she continued to support her family back in Scotland from her missionary's salary. Her experiences in the rough neighborhoods of Dundee gave her a boldness to deal with intense conflicts and murderous superstitions in Calabar. Impelled by the love of Christ, she championed the causes of the poor and weak, especially women and children. To combat the superstitious tradition of killing twins, she adopted many while she preached on the value of life.Today, more than one hundred years later, Mary Slessor is still celebrated in Calabar, Nigeria. Her statue stands in the center of the city, a memorial to a woman whose life was a blessing to this people. She is depicted holding infant twins.About the Scripture Testimony EditionWalking Together Press has enhanced this classic title by identifying and marking portions of the narrative that illustrate specific Biblical topics and verses. History tends to remember the pioneers. This is understandable, for they enter the story first. They blaze the trail that others follow. In the case of Protestant missions, this honor goes to William Carey (1761-1834) who is often considered the "father of modern missions."[1] Consequently, numerous biographies have been written about him in his own day and ours.[2] But Carey's life work took place in the context of a bustling mission comprised of numerous other missionaries sent out by the Baptist Missionary Society (BMS), Asiatic missionaries of mixed native and European ancestry, and native Indian evangelists and pastors. And at the center of this missiological orbit was not Carey alone, but a fellowship of three-the famed Serampore Trio-consisting of Carey and two other seldom-mentioned colleagues, Joshua Marshman (1768-1837) and William Ward (1769-1823). These enjoyed an amazing twenty-three years of harmonious service together in the Serampore Mission and rarely did anything without consulting each other.
In the months before Isaac's birth, his father was in prison once again. His mother was forced into having an abortion, though seven months pregnant, because she was carrying the child of an enemy of the state. After desperate prayer, the night before she was due to go into hospital for the operation, she miraculously gave birth. Isaac met his father for the first time at the age of four. Brother Yun was constantly on the run, and his mother had to work to feed the family, so his grandmother cared for him. One day his mother was also arrested. Isaac and his sister were swiftly taken to another town by local Christians, where they registered at a school under false names. The family finally managed to flee to Burma, Thailand and ultimately Germany. As he grew up, what should Isaac do? Isaac's mother had prayed that God would not call her son to be an evangelist - but his father had dedicated him to God. Isaac, now in his twenties, has embraced the call to be a pastor

For the first time, Pope Francis tells the story of his life as he looks back on the momentous world events that have changed history--from his earliest years during the outbreak of World War II in 1939 to the turmoil of today. An extraordinary personal and historical journey, Life is the story of a man and a world in dramatic change. Pope Francis recalls his life through memories and observations of the most significant occurrences of the past eight decades, from the Holocaust to the fall of the Berlin Wall, Videla's coup in Argentina to the moon landing in 1969, and even the 1986 World Cup in which Maradona scored the unforgettable "hand of God" goal. Here are the frank assessments and intimate insights of a pastor reflecting on the Nazi extermination of the Jews, the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the 2001 terrorist attack on America and the collapse of the Twin Towers, the great economic recession of 2008, the Covid-19 pandemic, the retirement of Pope Benedict XVI, and the subsequent conclave that elected him Pontiff. The "pope callejero" recounts these world-changing moments with the candor and compassion that distinguishes him, and offers important messages on major crises confronting us now, including social inequalities, climate change, international war, atomic weapons, racial discrimination, and the battles over social and cultural issues.Translated from the Italian by Aubrey Botsford
Koden på den 15-årige Kristines hævekort er 6220. Tallene repræsenterer vers 20 i Galaterbrevets andet kapitel i Det Nye Testamente.

A missionary's biography and recount of God's work of Reformation in the churches in the Philippines. A romantic angle in the biography is included: the British missionary, Brian Thomas Ellis met Eunice "Necy" Goco for his language studies in Singapore. They fell in love and decided to work as missionaries, first to a remote Lubang Island, then in the relatively busy Cubao, Quezon City. Side stories or snippets from other people add more interest to their recount of the Lord's faithfulness in this book.
