Remember when we were children, how we used to tease our classmates? Some of the things we said were funny, but some were rather crude. We may remember kids insulting other kids, joking about them riding the "little yellow school bus." Little did we know what the future would bring and that some of us that laughed at these insults would someday see our own children riding a "little yellow school bus."In Our Journey of God's Blessings, Arie takes you into the challenges and God's blessings of a family with special needs children. It contains tragedy, despair, miracles and joy. But most of all, it reveals the supernatural power of God, the blessings He has provided, and His love for us as we all, special needs or not, journey through our lives!
A handbook for parents of children with additional educational needs answering all of your most pertinent questions about supporting your child at home and at school, how to access additional support, and have your child's needs met effectively.

Let God Write Your Story is a captivating story of a 'transformational Christian education model' at Bridge of Hope Girls' School in post war Liberia . . . a model which is transforming the social narratives of disadvantaged girls in the Central New Matadi community and its environs. It is a story of a family with deep passion that muscled courage to bring 'renewed hope' through Christian education to marginalized teenage girls. Let God Write Your Story also unravels deep rooted cultural assumptions faced by a girl-child. She grows up in cultures that don't value her worth and her willingness to aspire to her full potentials like her boy's counterpart. The term "girl-child" as used in this book simply refers to a female offspring under the age of 18. The expression implies that girls are different from boys or face special circumstances.

This book focuses on the concept of subjective views of aging. This concept refers to the way individuals conceptualize and perceive the aging process. Social and cultural perceptions regarding older adults are incorporated and internalized into views people hold regarding their own aging process. The book contains three parts which present theoretical, empirical, and translational perspectives about subjective views of aging. The theoretical section expands the framework of subjective views of aging with the inclusion of additional concepts, and further integrates these concepts by accounting for their synergistic effects. The empirical section presents recent developments in the field starting at the intra-individual level as assessed by ecological momentary assessments, going through the level of interpersonal relationships, and concluding at the social and cultural levels. Finally, the translational section presents recent endeavours to develop interventions aimed at advancing favourable views of aging. This cutting-edge edited book includes chapters written by internationally renowned scholars in the field and serves as an up-to-date resource for scholars in the field as well as a textbook for students in courses like social gerontology, lifespan psychology, and life course sociology.
