The Power of Sexual Surrender, first published in 1959, is a classic guide to female sexuality and the treatment of frigidity. Author Marie Robinson M.D., a Cornell educated psychiatrist, devoted her New York City practice to the treatment of frigidity, and this book is a result of her work with hundreds of women seeking better sex lives and happier relationships. Although some 'feminists' may consider some of her ideas out-of-favor, her view of the basic nature of men and women remains timeless and of value today in promoting healthy, sane marriages. The Power of Sexual Surrender discusses female orgasm, the root causes of various types of frigidity, provides case histories as examples, and, importantly, provides simple means of self-treatment. One reviewer called the book "the sanest work on feminine psychology ever written."

This volume consists of fifteen multidisciplinary papers written by prehistoric, classical, and postclassical archaeologists from different institutions worldwide. They provide quite an open view of different aspects of underway landscape archaeology research in many countries, from Europe to Asia and the Americas. The papers cover a wide variety of territories that, in one way or another, have been crossed, exploited, and changed by the impact of Neanderthals and Modern humans throughout different periods of the Pleistocene and the Holocene. Extreme environments have also been considered, among which are central Asia's desert landscapes and western Europe's northernmost territories. The result consists of an interesting mosaic of papers discussing Medieval, subrecent periods, and archaeometric approaches.
Global health challenges and their impact on public well-beingIn the 21st century, we are facing a complex landscape of global health challenges. These challenges have a profound impact on our physical, mental, and social well-being, making it essential for the global community to take action quickly.1. The persistent threat of infectious diseasesFrom pandemics such as HIV/AIDS to emerging viruses such as Ebola and COVID-19, infectious diseases remain a major threat to global health. Their spread is further exacerbated by socio-economic inequality, poor sanitation, and limited access to medical care. Vaccination, public health awareness, and appropriate investment are essential to address these challenges.2. The growing burden of non-communicable diseasesNon-communicable diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and mental disorders are now the leading cause of global mortality. These diseases are primarily linked to unhealthy lifestyles, poor diet, smoking, and excessive alcohol consumption. Nutrition education, promotion of physical activity, tobacco control, and improvements in mental health services are needed to prevent these trends.3. Environmental degradation and its impact on healthEnvironmental issues such as deforestation, climate change, and air pollution are giving rise to many health problems. Air pollution is increasing respiratory diseases, climate change is increasing the risk of food insecurity and waterborne diseases, and the destruction of ecosystems is weakening economic and social stability. It is essential to adopt sustainable development practices and conserve natural resources to mitigate these challenges.

This book grapples with what it means when education and democracy are at an end: when these two foundational aspects of our society seem to have reached a culminating point, no longer appearing to produce and make sense amid the crises of our time. Engaging topical political events and mobilizing a variety of cultural resources, Di Paolantonio shows that today the possibility of the future and the significance of an expansive transgenerational sensibility are radically in question as trends toward destruction, cruelty, and banality are steering world-defying calamities, and sparking ¿chronopathologies¿ of doom and despair among the planet¿s occupants. Unfolding his argument through a series of accessible chapters that draw on contemporary philosophy, educational thinking, and cultural-artistic works, Di Paolantonio explores how the transgenerational sensibility retains a possibility we might tap for overcoming the impasses of our time.

Scientific Essays and Lectures by Charles Kingsley is a collection of essays and lectures on various scientific topics. The book is divided into three parts, each dealing with a different area of science. The first part covers geology, including essays on the formation of the earth, the age of the earth, and the history of the earth's surface. The second part covers biology, with lectures on the theory of evolution, the nature of life, and the relationship between science and religion. The third part covers physics, including lectures on the nature of light, the laws of motion, and the structure of matter. Throughout the book, Kingsley explores the relationship between science and religion, arguing that the two are not mutually exclusive but rather complementary. He also emphasizes the importance of scientific inquiry and discovery in advancing human knowledge and understanding of the natural world. Overall, Scientific Essays and Lectures is a thought-provoking and insightful exploration of some of the most important scientific topics of the 19th century. The superstitious man, according to him, after having washed his hands with lustral water--that is, water in which a torch from the altar had been quenched--goes about with a laurel-leaf in his mouth, to keep off evil influences, as the pigs in Devonshire used, in my youth, to go about with a withe of mountain ash round their necks to keep off the evil eye. If a weasel crosses his path, he stops, and either throws three pebbles into the road, or, with the innate selfishness of fear, lets someone else go before him, and attract to himself the harm which may ensue. He has a similar dread of a screech-owl, whom he compliments in the name of its mistress, Pallas Athene.
