During the 2015 and 2016 refugee crisis the EU called on the Member States to engage in protection burden-sharing. This proposal found strong opposition from some of the Visegrad Group countries, including Poland, which expressed their reluctance to the relocation scheme securitizing the political narrative towards refugees. On the contrary, in 2022, during the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, Poland strengthened an ¿open door policy¿, showing a humanitarian approach towards Ukrainian refugees.This book uses a public goods theoretical framework to examine the various public goods characteristics of refugee protection in such scenarios. It is argued that the publicness and character of refugee protection is socially shaped by norms and identities. States perceive refugee protection, including benefits and costs, in different ways. The author focuses his analysis on the security/humanitarian dichotomy in states¿ perceptions of refugees to investigate the accompanying vision of the inherent costs and benefits. The conceptual part of the book provides conclusive support of an alternative constructivist mode in public goods theory for understanding refugee protection burden-sharing.

Chronology of development of political inquiries under technical dialogue umbrella, Kosovo ¿ Serbia. It was interesting how the technical level dialogue become political talks that means - took another dimension of talks between two countries, which took place political aspect without clearly understanding what are the interests of the Kosovo in this process, and the other side of the conviction to enter into these talks to bring Serbia to the EU and bring political ¿peace¿, between countries with no doubts in the end of dialogue but ¿no guaranties with happy¿. But until now there are a lot of confusion in direction what is the purpose of interests of Kosovo expectations of achieving stability in western Balkan? Or what else interest has Kosovo's state according to easily EU integration? Even the public opinion in Kosovo for these talks Kosovo-Serbia, is full of debates and many suspicions and with doubts, these talks were full of an-normal political confidences with certain aims, and the idea was to avoid public opinion and the noise that it could be done during this dialogue.

Balkan states are still at a stage of political and class transformation. There is no stable market economy that would affect the strengthening of the aspect of building a party political orientation, both left and right Political programs.Balkan political developments are charismatic in two matter: the first is the formation of the economic classes and the second, nationalism as an ideology. Without the formation of economic classes, there is no neither a proper and clear party profile. The problems of the Balkan States are characterized by major economic problems, with a greater unemployment and inefficiency and in bad developments of law and order. Balkan states have long been trying to form economic classes. The Balkan countries are more concerned with the problems of regional nationalism, which is bad and not good for the region. While domestic political developments are not stable. In Albania strives to have clear division but more formal than functional, on the one side there is the right path of the DP and on the other two parties left PS and LSI. While in Kosovo there is no clear division of the political class in formal way are PDK and LDK and another part is LVV, NISMA.

This book explores the resilience of constitutional government in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, connecting and comparing perspectives from ten countries in sub-Saharan Africa to global trends.In emergency situations, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, a state has the right and duty under both international law and domestic constitutional law to take appropriate steps to protect the health and security of its population. Emergency regimes may allow for the suspension or limitation of normal constitutional government and even human rights. Those measures are not a license for authoritarian rule, but they must conform to legal standards of necessity, reasonableness, and proportionality that limit state action in ways appropriate to the maintenance of the rule of law in the context of a public health emergency. Bringing together established and emerging African scholars from ten countries, this book looks at the impact government emergency responses to the pandemic have on the functions of the executive, the legislature, and the judiciary, as well as the protection of human rights. It also considers whether and to what extent government emergency responses were consistent with international human rights law, in particular with the standards of legality, necessity, proportionality, and non-discrimination in the Siracusa Principles.

In 1921, there was a peasant rebellion in Malabar in present-day Kerala. The British colonialists attempted to give it a communal colour since most peasants were Muslim and the landlords Hindu. This narrative suited the landlords and served their interest. In our own times, forces of Hindutva have adopted the same communal narrative and are attempting to write the Malabar Rebellion of 1921 out of the history of the Freedom Struggle. History, however, is the result of a complex interplay of several factors. The early communists and some secular nationalists understood the rebellion to have a class character, but which would be manifest - due to the land tenure system set in place in Malabar - with religious and caste characteristics. This volume collects six of the definitive Communist voices from 1921 to 2021 that challenge the attempt to communalise the Moplah Rebellion; instead, they offer fact-based, materialist analyses that foreground the class character of the agrarian revolt, the way in which class intersected with other social identities (of religion and caste) in the unfurling of the rebellion, and the national and international shape of the rebellion. Together, these writings give the lie to the Hindutva narrative and assert the importance of rational, secular, and evidence-based history writing.

This book presents the updated results of an investigation carried out in 2019. The National Autonomous University of Mexico's (UNAM) Climate Change Research Program (PINCC), funded the research coordinated by Armelle Gouritin. The research aims to answer the following questions: Does the Mexican legal framework and public policies address forced internal climate mobility? If not, what could be the elements of a legal framework and public policies to address the phenomenon? As the phenomenon was approached it was clear that it was extremely complex and consisted of numerous tensions that would lead to other questions throughout the research process.Climate forced internal displacement is projected as a huge-scale phenomenon in Mexico. Against this background, the book provides the first critical diagnosis of the current politico-legal Mexican framework and finds it to be lagging behind in terms of prevention and attention. The book analyses the three-level Mexican governance (federal, state and local levels), and identifies serious loopholes according to a rights-based approach that particularly focuses on women, indigenous peoples, and persons and communities with scarce economic resources. The results provide information on up-coming legislative and political processes and provide benchmarks that can be applied in other case-studies, including other national frameworks' critical analysis.

The reasons for the increase in the electorate for going to the elections came as a result of a long period of government degradation in the state of Kosovo by the political parties LDK, PDK, AAKAKR, but even now that a new political entity VV has come to power, it has also started disappointment grows in Kosovo, due to the many problems that burden the state from economic, social to education and justice.

Emotions have always been considered an important element of political communication. Recent research has demonstrated the significance of emotions in individual information-processing and political judgements. Used strategically, emotions thus become an instrument for influencing people. Based on content analyses of TV news and political talk shows in Germany, this book analyses with which emotions television portrays politicians and which techniques are used to trigger emotions in viewers. Using experiments, it investigates how portraying emotional politicians can affect political attitudes against the background of the theory of emotional contagion.
