Brutally honest, confronting memoir of a National Serviceman's deployment to Vietnam as an infantry soldier. Captivating, extensive military detail and personal revelations.
In Kali's Travels, I aim to help parents and guardians understand how scary it is for a little child to see their world packed up in boxes and their life uprooted. I hope these words will help explain to your little boy or girl what happens when we, as adults, are asked to move our families. This book shows them it is okay to be scared to move away from our homes and friends and that there will always be more exciting adventures in the next place filled with new friends, new places, and new memories to be made. --Marlene Norgard
This book began as a poem I wrote while my husband was deployed through his first child's first year. He struggled as he missed his son's first words, first foods, first steps, and first birthday. While only seeing his son's little world through photographs, he emotionally grappled to connect with him and become a father figure. In what I wrote, I hoped to capture all of the sentiments associated with military families-parents and children-when facing a deployment. Nothing can give them that time back with their children, and nothing makes up for that initial absence of connection between deployed parent and their children, especially a first child. In this book, I highlight the similarities of their current geographical worlds and draw father and son closer by showing they are both looking at the same moon, stars, and sun. It helped my son connect with his daddy, knowing when he looked up in the sky at the same time his daddy was too. They could share a moment together, and my son and I could feel less alone. -Marlene Norgard

Clearing Vietnam': Anatomy of a U.S. Army Land Clearing Team, captures the sights, sounds, and unusual encounters of a young combat engineer who found himself operating a specialized bulldozer within the dense jungles of South Vietnam. It was a place where hard work, grueling conditions and enemy encounters forced this ninteen year old to grow up, while learning what it would ultimately take to help assure his survivability there. After all the many years removed from that distant land, and its seemingly endless inner turmoil, this detailed memoir serves to bring it all back into the light; to project the viewpoint and perspective of a common combat engineer, as he performed a not-so-common task, in operating a Rome Plow tractor, while somewhat reluctantly serving an elongated, but highly educational tour of duty in a place that seemed so desolately remote, at the time. Moreover, this detailed account also highlights the achievements and dedicated spirit of the members of a unique Engineer outfit, which evolved from a rag-tag platoon of Land Clearing pioneers, to eventually achieve Company status, within an unprecedented new battlion formation, comprised entirely of Land Clearing units. Essentially, this is a nuts and bolts and sweat and blood window view of a very different sort of wartime experience.
"The Nam," is a riveting and harrowing account of the Vietnam War. The author's unique experiences took him from running point for Marine infantry units as a Scout Dog Handler to being a team leader with 3rd Force Recon Company deep in the jungles of Vietnam. He explains how Force Recon Marines brought the fight to the enemy, conducting stingray operations using artillery and air strikes. "Often completely surrounded, we had to fight our way out!". Written from the perspective of a young Marine serving in a war-torn country he gives a personal account of his combat experiences fighting the NVA and the Viet Cong. After decades of contemplation, the author gives a political commentary on this unpopular war characterized by mismanagement detailing his thoughts on the biggest lessons of the Vietnam War.

In September 1939, the Henschel Hs 126 was the main tactical reconnaissance aircraft of the Luftwaffe but the Polish campaign did not see its operational debut. In late 1938, the Legión Cóndor had decided to replace its ageing Heinkel He 45s and He 46s with this new type, which was used in combat in the final stages of the Spanish civil war and two were lost in operations. The last Henschel was struck off charge in the Spanish inventory in 1953, sixteen years after the maiden flight of an Hs 126. This book includes numerous unpublished photos, the first correct line drawings of the Hs 126 A-1 version and colour profiles by Erik Pilawskii, plus artwork by Txetxu Rubio.
Officially designated as the Medium Tank, M3 was the first US medium tank to be mass-produced. It was conceived and designed around 1940 and became operational in 1941. Its turret was made in two variants, one according to US specifications and the other modified to meet British requirements, in this case including the placement of the radio next to the commander. In the context of the British Commonwealth, the tank acquired two distinct designations: those with US-model turrets were called 'Lee', in homage to Confederate General Robert E. Lee, while those with British-model turrets were identified as 'Grant', in honor of Union General Ulysses S. Grant, the two greatest and most famous American generals of the Civil War.
Autoveicoli e motoveicoli. In campo aereo: i Fiat CR 32, CR 42, Reggiane 2000 e i bombardieri CA 135...

This book is concerned with both the national security concerns of Asian maritime nations and the security of the Asian maritime commons. These are defined as the Pacific and Indian Oceans and associated seas, bays, and gulfs, with their included sea lines of communication (SLOCs). The most useful geographical designation for maritime Asia is the "Indo-Pacific." Bernard Cole provides both a survey of the maritime strategies of the primary nations of the Indo-Pacific region and an evaluation of the domestic and international politics that drive those strategies. The United States, Canada, Russia, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, China, the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Iran, the smaller Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf states are all surveyed and analyzed. The United States, Japan, China, and India not surprisingly draw the most attention, given their large modern navies and distant strategic reach. The author concludes that the United States remains the dominant maritime power in this huge region, stretching from Canada to the Persian Gulf, despite its lack of a traditionally strong merchant marine. U.S. maritime power remains paramount, due primarily to its dominant navy. The Chinese naval modernization program deservedly receives a good deal of public attention, but Cole argues that on a day-to-day basis the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, as its navy is named, is the most powerful maritime force in Far Eastern waters, while the modernizing Indian Navy potentially dominates the Indian Ocean. In fact, a focus of this work is the exemplary description of all the region's navies, with the author noting the naval arms race that is underway, particularly in the area of submarine acquisition. Cole is careful to couch this phenomenon in the regional concerns about Chinese naval expansion and the desire to ensure a continued, massive U.S. naval presence. The current naval developments in the region evince elements of a naval arms race, but lack the coherent maritime strategies to make naval developments dangerous to regional peace and security. Most telling will be whether United States power and focus remain on the region, while adjusting to continued Chinese maritime power in a way acceptable to both nations. No other current or recent work provides such a complete description of the Indo-Pacific region's navies and maritime strategies, while analyzing the current and future impact of those forces.
