Emerging multinational enterprises (or EMNEs) have made a huge impact on the international business stage by internationalising at a rapid rate. And they have performed remarkably well in both developing and developed countries. Accordingly, there is a growing strand of literature on how EMNEs manage their international human resource (IHRM) practices in different international contexts. However, the majority of the literature on IHRM practices of EMNEs is limited to explaining what international management practices EMNEs implement in their foreign subsidiaries and how they implement them. Too often, EMNEs struggle to transfer their weak management practices across national borders as they have limited experience, resources and capabilities when compared to MNEs from developed countries. Developing a better understanding on the manner in which EMNEs adopt their international human resource management and development practices abroad is, therefore, paramount to fully understand their globalisation-related behaviours. This dedicated book will aim to provide a holistic picture and contemporary insights on IHRM in emerging multinational enterprises. It will be of interest to researchers, academics and students in the fields of business and management, especially those with a particular interest in human resource management, firm internationalisation and emerging markets.
The book is the first worldwide publication of a complex theory of management aesthetics in humanistic management based on the aesthetics and arts approach allowing for a complete and systemic understanding of the management art and art management phenomenon.
This book examines the central role media and communication play in the activities of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) around the globe, how NGOs communicate with key publics, engage stakeholders, target political actors, enable input from civil society, and create participatory opportunities. An international line-up of authors first discuss communication practices, strategies, and media uses by NGOs, providing insights into the specifics of NGO programs for social change goals and reveal particular sets of tactics NGOs commonly employ. The book then presents a set of case studies of NGO organizing from all over the world-ranging from Sudan via Brazil to China - to illustrate the particular contexts that make NGO advocacy necessary, while also highlighting successful initiatives to illuminate the important spaces NGOs occupy in civil society. This comprehensive and wide-ranging exploration of global NGO communication will be of great interest to scholars across communication studies, media studies, public relations, organizational studies, political science, and development studies, while offering accessible pieces for practitioners and organizers.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has developed into a crucial corporate and organizational issue around the world. It has been incorporated into various sectors and countries, and includes many types of activities and dimensions. It is a common notion that organizations are more inclined today to broaden and shift their performance focus from short-term goals towards long-term social, environmental, and value-added perspectives.Under the framework of corporate governance, organizations and companies are motivated to promote fairness, transparency, ethics, and accountability in their transactions, while concurrently maintaining enhanced standards of governance. This means that organizations and corporations must align their activities with community aspirations which is an issue falling within the sphere of CSR. Increased attention has been placed on the organizations regarding their approach towards the needs of various stakeholders. However, a crucial issue that this book attempts to address is the association, intersection, and inter-relationship between governance and CSR within the EU region, which are not adequately established in the existing literature. The book will show that governance and CSR are highly connected. With the purpose of studying the association of CSR with legal, managerial and empirical aspects of governance in corporations and not-for-profit organizations, in various sectors of the economy, the book also intends to provide useful policy implications, as well as to offer constructive directions for future research. This book will be of value to researchers, academics, practitioners, policymakers, and students in the fields of CRS and governance, organizational theory, marketing management, business ethics and human resource management.
Practicing business with a conscience leaves no sector untouched. It trickles into how we treat our employees; approach our work in general; address stakeholders; engage in accounting, financial, and production management practices; implement and manage information technology; communicate on a direct and indirect basis; and market what we stand for. Business has encountered an interesting evolution in the first two decades of the twenty-first century, with social media as a catalyst aiding greater understanding and improvement regarding the critical value of soft skills, workplace diversity, change readiness, moral responsibility, sustainable awareness, and a general socially responsible mindset. This amalgamate spirit of business as we envision it in both the near and far future has found its way in all segments of business education, research, and practice.Adhering to the global trend of increased responsibility and evoking a constructive change in the narrative of business, this Research Companion serves as a critical reference work for business scholars and practitioners in various settings. It brings together contributing scholars from multiple business areas, from a variety of cultures and locations of the world, in order to achieve the compilation of a reference work that will find an expansive appeal. The Theory of the Firm is commonly viewed as axiomatic by business school academicians. Considerations in spanning organizational structures, their boundaries and roles, as well as business strategies all relate to the Theory of the Firm. The dominant Theory of the Firm poses that markets act perfectly to maximize the well- being of society when people act to maximize the personal utility of their individual purchases and firms act to maximize financial returns to their owners. However, burgeoning evidence and discourse across the scientific and policy communities suggests that the economic, social, and environmental consequences of accepting and applying this theory in the organization of business and society threaten the survival of the human species, among countless others. This book provides the latest thinking on alternatives to the Theory of the Firm as cornerstone of managerial decision-making. Authors explore and elucidate theories that help us understand a firm differently and suggest alternatives to the Theory of the Firm. This book will be of value to researchers, academics, practitioners, and students interested in leadership, strategic management, and the intersection of corporate interests and the well-being of the society.

With the entire world experiencing the global pandemic and its aftermath, VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) conditions have never been more extreme and the need for adaptive leadership never more urgent. But how is adaptive leadership applied outside Western cultures? How can it be taught through leadership development programs? Which tools enhance its practice and its teaching? How does adaptive leadership relate to other key theories and practices? This volume answers these questions and more as it illustrates how adaptive leadership practices address some of the world's most pressing challenges-political and cultural division, remote work, crisis management-across a variety of sectors. Adaptive leadership has been explained as a key leadership approach for dealing with adaptive, as distinguished from technical or predictable, problems, especially prevalent in complex environments. However, adaptive leadership scholarship has suffered from a lack of conceptual clarity and casual application of its core concepts. It remains solidly Western in its prescriptions. This book will expand readers' understanding of adaptive leadership and its potential to solve local and global adaptive challenges and will explore its relevance and application to cultures outside the United States.Aiming to increase conceptual clarity about adaptive leadership to enhance future scholarship and application and illustrate novel approaches and perspectives, this book will be of interest to researchers, academics, practitioners, and students in the fields of leadership, strategy, and organizational studies.

Meredith Wilson's 'Shift: Everyday actions for leaders to shift culture' simplifies workplace culture with a focus on actionable steps. This practical guide enables leaders to shape, shift, and strengthen workplace cultures through everyday actions. 'Shift' demystifies organisational culture, without being stuffy or fluffy. Using everyday language and removing unnecessary complexity, Shift makes culture doable for leaders at all levels. This valuable handbook provides leaders a formula for culture: Moments that Matter x Leader Behaviours = Culture. Meredith makes the intangible, tangible with her GRASS acronym, highlighting the five moments that matter most in culture: Gatherings, Rituals, Actions, Symbols and Stories. Each GRASS element is unpacked with real-life examples, practical insights, and a range of experiments to action in the workplace. 'Shift' guides leaders on how to reshape, refine, and reinforce the culture within their teams and organisations. From subtle gestures to significant initiatives, Meredith shows leaders and organisations how to grow and sustain cultures that work. Drawing from over two decades of executive experience, including advising and mentoring Executives and Boards on culture, Meredith distils her expertise into this practical handbook. 'Shift' acts as a catalyst for leaders wanting to impact the culture of their teams and organisations. Whether you're a seasoned executive or a newly appointed team leader, this book helps you grow cultures that work.
