Rektor for Sjællands Kirkemusikskole 2009-2021.
Gudmund Rask Pedersen, f. 1957, gartner, cand.theol.

Jesus did not say ""take and think."" He said ""take and eat."" This is embodied worship. It includes gestures, rites, kneeling, raising hands, and of course eating and drinking a holy meal with God. These activities are liturgies. Liturgy is the physical, embodied activity of worship--it's what we do in worship--everyone has a liturgy! As such, worship is the church's primary means of discipleship.Instead of fearing to kneel because it's ""Roman Catholic,"" or fearing to raise your hands because it's ""Pentecostal,"" perhaps we should simply see what God recommends in the Scriptures--then without fear and by faith (at the appropriate time) start kneeling, raising our hands, and eating a covenant meal with God (on a weekly basis). The hope is to replace a fear-driven approach to worship with a faith-driven, embodied worship that offers deep, robust, and beautiful worship experiences combined with the hope of great blessings. In doing so, we hope for nothing less than a new reformation--a reformation in worship.
Thomistic theology is rarely associated with liturgical prayer, even by many of St. Thomas's own disciples. Such a dissociation reveals more about the priorities of later Thomism, however, than it does about St. Thomas Aquinas, who himself devoted considerable energy to the contemplation of the sacred liturgy. In Thomistic Mystagogy: St. Thomas Aquinas's Commentaries on the Mass, Urban Hannon considers the saint's teaching on the meaning and purpose of the various rites that surround the holy Eucharist. Drawing on four essential texts-two from St. Thomas's earliest major work, two from his latest; two on the words of the liturgy, two on its actions-this little book pieces together a properly Thomistic commentary on the Mass. "Because in this sacrament the whole mystery of our salvation is embraced," St. Thomas says, "thus it is carried out with greater solemnity." This is a study of that "greater solemnity," and of how St. Thomas believes it relates to "the whole mystery of our salvation."

The Book of Psalms is the Lord's revelation providing His people with substance for worship, lament, reflection, introspection, confession and praise. Accordingly, the Apostle Paul entreats us to sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. Yet what has happened to psalm singing in the modern church? Most modern hymnals do contain a faint vestige of the Book of Psalms enduring from the Genevan Psalter. But how seriously does the modern church heed the scriptural admonition to sing psalms? And how can the modern church reclaim the rich treasure contained in the Psalter? The primary reason for resistance is the use of fatigued and dated hymn tunes most often utilized with psalter texts. The truth and authority of God's word does not change, but contemporary culture and musical style are everchanging. This tune collection, 24 New Tunes in Common Meter, is composed to this end to assist churches in the reclamation of the rich theological treasure found in the Book of Psalms and the psalter. Each new tune herein conforms to strophic common meter or common meter doubled. The style is intentionally contemporary with a variety of interesting rhythms, harmonies, color tones, chord extensions and modalities not appearing in traditional hymn tunes. Each new tune is scored for gentle vocal range and easy piano accompaniment. Chord symbols have been provided to facilitate adaptation of rhythm instruments such as guitar, keyboard, bass and drums. My prayer is that your church will find this collection of tunes useful in accessing and reclaiming the Book of Psalms in congregational worship.

Charles and Miranda's wedding was the right begining for this second half a very inspirational story of love, and friendship. In my first book the girls were young and in high school. Enjoying life, parties, and experiencing new loves. They also wrestled with understanding the world as it pertains to their own families. There were a few storms for a couple of the girls, they stood strong and they made it through. Thanks be to God they weren't alone. God's hand of protection was always around Shameka Neal Johnson, Corey Mason, Ashley James, Miranda Brooks James, Taylor Williams, and Yasmine Duncan; together they prayed and shared a new begining to a new life.In this book enjoy the happy family times, and the worship hour around the church. Experience the adventure of new love again with revival of spirit filled rejoicing.
Ritual is the area of Buddhist practice that receives the least amount of attention. This book is for both sceptical and enquiring practitioners. Combining research in psychology and cultural studies and the author's own practice, Bodhidasa draws out the liberatory potential of Buddhist ritual. More than a book 'about' Buddhist ritual, this is a personal guide to assist the reader to move more deeply 'into' its practice and benefit from its fruits. 'Bodhidasa invites us to awaken our imaginations and to see the world as a magician might in this delightfully unpretentious book. He skilfully shows us how, far from being extraneous to the Buddhist path, ritual lies at its heart - because it lies at the heart of human life itself.' - Subhadramati, a member of the ordination team at Tiratanaloka Retreat Centre and author of Not About Being Good'I can't think of anyone more on fire with the magic of ritual than Bodhidasa. Bodhidasa's own devotion shows in this always surprising, wonderful book. It will lead anyone who's curious, sceptical, or passionate about ritual to a better understanding of what it's really all about - in heart and in mind.'Candradasa, author of Buddhism for Teens and founder of Free Buddhist Audio and The Buddhist Centre Online'Do devotional practice and ritual have any place in the life of a modern Buddhist? Straight from the heart, Bodhidasa offers an overview of the territory and, above all, the challenge all Buddhists face: to find emotional equivalents for their intellectual understanding.'Nagabodhi, author of Sangharakshita: The Boy, the Monk, the Man'Bodhidasa succeeds in writing both for the newcomer to ritual as well as the old hand: responding to the questions we inevitably ask ourselves - but are sometimes afraid to ask aloud - and offering fresh insights in equal measure. With wit, intimate knowledge of the terrain, and a vivid imagination, he makes a compelling case for ritual as a path to Enlightenment.'Prajnaketu, author of Cyberloka: A Buddhist Guide to Digital Life
Paws to ReflectEvery day God speaks to us, and sometimes His messages come in unexpected ways. He may send a message in a quiet moment, through a friend, or through a difficult experience. But, would God send a message through a foster kitten? Is it really possible that God has a message in bottle feeding, ringworm, infections, incessant mewing, and hissy kittens? He surely does! This book is filled with heartfelt stories, Bible verses, and quotations that show just how God speaks through foster experiences. Instead of coming from a voice like the roar of rushing waters, these lessons come from tiny paws.Enjoy some time cuddling with a furry friend and reflecting on God's handiwork in the lives of foster kittens and cats.
In Living the Liturgy: A Witness, Father Luigi Giussani (1922-2005) shares his deepest convictions about the nature of the liturgy.
This collection provides Psalm verses for the introit and communion propers for the extraordinary form of the Roman Rite. Having access to these verses, pointed and with chant notation, makes it possible to sing repeated antiphons for these portions of the Mass. This book was published in 1962 in cooperation with Solesmes, and provides indexes applicable to the 1962 Missale Romanum.
This book contains several scriptural-based prayers that you can pray for your children and generations to come. Most people generally pray "divine protection" over their children, and while this is important, there are equally other prayers that need to be prayed for your offspring. This book contains a variety of prayers, and as you pray them, you are establishing things in the spirit which will soon manifest in the natural. So enjoy and begin to sow prayers seeds for your children and generations to come.
Nowadays the inclusion of hymns, chants and sequences in Eucharistic worship is a well-established and much-loved feature of liturgical celebration that we tend to take for granted. How this came about is the subject of this present fascinating study in which John Blakesley guides us through the growth and development of chant, office hymns, sequences and tropes and their increased use in the Church of the Middle Ages.St Ambrose is credited with introducing hymns into the Western Church in the fourth century, and over the next five centuries hymns in his style were the only legitimate form of liturgical poetry. The revival of learning in the Carolingian period led to an outburst of creativity in the writing of tropes and sequences to be sung at Mass. Though opposed by some churchmen, these non-biblical embellishments were defended by Walafrid, the gentle Abbot of Reichenau, who saw that the inclusion of sung poetry could help reinforce the truths of the Gospel. The greatest exponent of the early sequence was a ninth-century monk from Saint Gall, known as Notker 'the Stammerer', and many examples of his output are included here in translation. Notker's work is contrasted with the more naively exuberant output of the Winchester school and the elaborate biblical typology of the Victorines of Paris, whose sequences are like intricate mosaics of scriptural imagery. The Victorines' interest in contemplative ecstasy was to influence the Rhineland visionaries: the distinctive genius of St Hildegard of Bingen and the liturgical visions of her friend Elisabeth of Schönau. Medieval Christians had a strong sense of the Communion of Saints; their earthly worship really did take place 'with Angels and Archangels' and shared in the worship of Heaven. Nourished through liturgy, poetry, and the visual arts, the roots of this imagery are in the biblical texts used to enrich liturgical celebration and to foster devotion. That the dramatic symbolism of the liturgy could make the events of the Gospel vividly present to the worshipper's mind and heart, is fully demonstrated in this book through translations of poetry inspired by late medieval devotion to the Lord's Passion and Death, the Resurrection and the opening up of the Kingdom of Heaven.
One of the many remarkable things about Jesus is this:He never leaves anything the way He found it. That includes you. Whether water to wine or a broken heart made whole, Jesus is in the transformation business, partnering with His Father's plan to restore each of us to His original design and destiny for us. "I came that they might have life," Jesus said, "and might have it abundantly" (John 10:10). Encounters at the Well will provide you with nine devotional lessons that will draw your heart closer to Jesus as He touches it with His loving, penetrating truth, just like He did with the famous "woman at the well" in John 4 in the Bible. Through your own encounters with Jesus as you work through pages of this book, either on your own or with a group, God's love and grace will come alive to you in a fresh way. Your heart will be renewed and transformed, so you can increasingly experience the life of joy and freedom He intended you to live!
MANY HEARTS, DIFFERENT VOICES,ONE WAVE OF LOVEThis is a time of initiation on the planet. It is marked by polarization in lifestyle, health, politics, civil unrest, and even war. What if these initiations weren't happening to us, but for us? What if humanity could see initiation through the eyes of love? These questions echoed within our hearts prompting us to seek our inner truths and share them at this pivotal time. We explored the initiations of our lives viewing them through the lens of love. Egypt, chosen for its activating energy, became the canvas for this transformative experience. With its unique connection to the planet's voice and throat chakra, Egypt became our stage to confront fears and let truth dance hand in hand with love, creating a beautiful tapestry of inclusiveness. As we traveled the initiate's path along the Nile, the language of soul became a bridge connecting awareness and intuition. It empowered us to embrace the unknown and become open to possibilities arising from life's challenges. Our journey wasn't solely personal; it was a collective effort to prepare for the emerging Age of Truth.Follow us as we gracefully navigate our life's initiations through the eyes of love, and let this book be your gateway to newfound awareness, opening a path to enlightenment. Together we pave the way for a collective shift into a time where inclusivity and empowerment become integral. Join us in this wave of love!
