Authentic Hope provides living encouragement to those who have experienced or are currently experiencing difficult times and events. We have learned that God's presence is often best seen when life appears to have handed us the toughest of circumstances. A relationship with Him encourages and lifts us up when we are at our lowest, unable to encourage each other on our own. To meet my goal of being an encouragement to you, the reader, I chose to share two of my significant life experiences: 1. Living with a family member who battles a drug addiction2. Receiving a cancer diagnosis which has no known cure¿¿¿As I began formulating what I wanted to write, the simple concept of a "footnote" came to mind. Google has many footnote examples in the definition of a footnote. What caught my eye was "... additional information that would disrupt the flow of the main text ..." If you, as the reader, are going through circumstances which may cause your life to have a footnote, this book is for you. My life is not unique because of my footnotes. Most people live out life with one or more footnotes which impact their life in either positive or negative ways. Moreover, I think the type of footnote(s) or severity of them are not what makes the difference in how one journeys through life successfully. I believe the defining difference for me was this: my life has been, currently is, and will continue to be focused on Authentic Hope as my living foundation as I journey through the challenges and experiences with my two footnotes. God's positive involvement with us can best be seen when we have to deal with some of the profound negatives that life can dish out. Authentic Hope has been the thread which has been shown to be the silver lining in some very dark clouds.Authentic Hope looks closely at these two significant life-changing events: a family member with a drug addiction and being diagnosed with cancer. The book invites the reader to experience with the author both tragedy and triumph.

Frances Durham was born in 1934, raised in Woodville, Texas, and graduated from Kirby High School. She was baptized into Christ when she was twelve and has been a faithful and productive Christian since. While still living in Woodville she met and married Lloyd Parr, who was in the Navy and stationed in San Diego, California, where they made their home. During their 20-year career in the military, four years in the Navy and sixteen in the Air Force, "Fran" lived in several different places including Okinawa and Turkey. No matter where they were, Fran was active in the Church, teaching the Bible to children's and ladies' classes. She also wrote articles and Bible studies for Christian Woman magazine, and VBS material for elementary age children for Lambert Book House. When Lloyd retired from the Air Force the family moved to Eldon, Missouri, where they attended the Oak Street Church of Christ. They were asked to organize a children's worship to be called "Kings Kids". The objective was to teach about the Church, why it is, what its purpose is, how it is organized, and its destination. It didn't take long to find there was no such material available. So, Fran wrote the lessons each week that included a teacher's study guide, puppet script, handwork, skits, and activities. The Revelation focuses on the big picture that reveals what God wants his bond servants to know concerning their destiny. In The Revelation, God's thunder sounds and probes the future of his kingdom from the ascension of Jesus to his Second Coming. At a point in time to be determined by God, the faithful church that stands with Jesus on Mount Zion will hear his welcoming call "Come up here!" This call will herald the end of the church age. These redeemed souls will be led by Jesus to a special place he has prepared for them. All the rest of humanity will be left behind to endure God's wrath era. The unsaved souls who are left behind will hear their destiny at the Great White Throne Judgment. This final judgment to be executed by God will mark the end of times, and eternity for the redeemed saints will begin.The thousand years pictures Satan in solitary confinement in the "bottomless pit." Simultaneously, the saints reign with Jesus in the place he has prepared for them. After the thousand years is complete, Satan will be cast summarily into the lake of fire and brimstone. God will then declare, "It is done," and the New Jerusalem will enter eternity as God's holy city on the new heaven and the new earth. The purpose of this book is not to provide a step by step guide for establishing a Church school or to give a set of lesson plans, but to help instructors and other Church school volunteers align on the key point of departure (well begun is half done) and to serve as a quick reference for the things that are frequently used at a Church school, such as prayers before a meal and before a lesson, carols, feast and fast dates, Church greetings and more.

South Sudanese have good laws on papers, but their implementations differ with what the lawstipulates. One of these good laws is the separation of religion and state. In Church, State andthe Ethical Imaginations, Zechariah Manyok Biar explores what lies behind discrepanciesbetween written laws and their implementations in South Sudan. He comes up with a newconcept of central value systems to see if it can explain factors that contribute toinconsistencies in implementations of legal provisions such as separation of religion andstate. Central value system is a conservation value composed of conformity, security andtradition.The author shows that this book is important in the sense that it introduces a conceptthat explains why South Sudanese have good written laws but rarely implement them asstipulated. The book will also help non-South Sudanese readers understand discrepancies inimplementations of legal provisions in their respective contexts. It is likely that bothconservatives and liberals employ conservation values of conformity, security and tradition toprotect whatever values they cherish. For example, liberals may require conformity from theirmembers to secure or protect the main values in their liberal tradition. Similarly,conservatives would employ central value systems to shield cherished conservative values. Itis probable that the conservation value constitutes a central value system for any person orgroup of any persuasion or school of thought. It resists penetration from new values trying tochange cherished values. In South Sudan, central value systems protect the values of powerand harmony. Theology in the context of South Sudan would thus be a theology of harmony.Its base is the Trinitarian God, eschatological in orientation and secular in responsibility. Theoriginality of this study is in demonstrating that conservation values form central values thatdirect how people react to values that they are uncomfortable with, regardless of whether theyare conservatives or liberals.

Reading the Bible has been one of the passions of my life for almost 50 years and in this short book I want to share my experience and with it underline the importance of reading the Bible.John 8:31 gives us a clue as to why this is so important. It reads - "Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him, if you CONTINUE in my word, THEN you are my disciples indeed."This teaches us that the only way to be a true and genuine disciple of Jesus is if we CONTINUE in his word.
