Hun tog fejl.

"A concise and accessible introduction to exoplanets that explains the cutting-edge science behind recent discoveries. For centuries, people have speculated about the possibility of planets orbiting distant stars, but only since the 1990s has technology allowed astronomers to detect them. At this point, more than five thousand such exoplanets have been identified, with the pace of discovery accelerating after the launch of NASA's Transiting Exoplanet Satellite Survey and the Webb Space Telescope. In The Little Book of Exoplanets, Princeton astrophysicist Joshua Winn offers a brief and engaging introduction to the search for exoplanets and the cutting-edge science behind recent findings. In doing so, he chronicles the dawn of a new age of discovery-one that has rapidly transformed astronomy and our broader understanding of the universe. Scientists now know that many Sun-like stars host their own systems of planets, some of which may resemble our solar system and include planets similar to the Earth. But, Winn tells us, the most remarkable discoveries so far have been of planets with unexpected and decidedly un-Earth-like properties, which have upended what we thought we knew about the origins of planetary systems. Winn provides an inside view of the sophisticated detective work astronomers perform as they find and study exoplanets and describes the surprising-sometimes downright bizarre-planets and systems they have found. He explains how these discoveries are revolutionizing astronomy, and he explores the current status and possible future of the search for another Earth. Finally, drawing on his own and other scientists' work, he considers how the discovery of exoplanets and their faraway solar systems changes our perspectives on the universe and our place in it"--
'The 'Enfant terrible' of astrophysics . . . Loeb has a joy in conjecture and an omnivorous spirit of inquiry that are more reminiscent of 20th-century thinkers such as Freeman Dyson or Carl Sagan than most of his peers' The TimesCould we build space craft that could travel to distant stars? Could we augment human biology for spaceflight? Could the search for extraterrestrials be brought into the mainstream of scientific research?Avi Loeb tells us that in each case, the real question is not could we, but will we choose to? With an approach that is firmly grounded in cutting-edge science, he explores the potential for non-rocket space launch, deep space probes, and the technological preservation of human civilisation. He examines the evidence for UFOs and UAPs, and argues that the search for further evidence, using existing scientific technologies, is long overdue.Urgent and important, Noah's Spaceship is a mission statement and a blueprint for the future of humanity. Loeb explains why becoming interstellar is imperative for our civilization to survive - and how we can accomplish it.'One of the more imaginative and articulate scientists around' New York Times

In the modern world, travel and commerce within the aviation industry are major drivers of global economic growth. Nonetheless, a number of barriers stand in the way of the aviation industry's continued expansion and viability. The largest of these issues is the fuel usage in aircraft. An increase in fuel consumption results in a rise in operating costs and anthropogenic emissions. In order to evaluate aviation fuel consumption criteria, the author's goal in this book is to evolve, conceptualize, and develop a reliable Reduction in Aviation Fuel Consumption (RAFC) model.A thorough assessment of the literature served as the foundation for the development and conceptualization of the RAFC framework. Therefore, this book examined a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to implement the methodology with primary and secondary data. It carried out analysis utilizing a variety of techniques, including regression analysis, factor analysis, structural equation modeling, and AHP-entropy. This combination guaranteed the study's adaptability, economy, and consistency. Future interest in minimizing fuel consumption and emissions and maximizing revenue under prevailing social, economic, political, environmental, and other restrictions might be stoked by knowledge of RAFC correlations with factors and sub-factors. Consequently, it will lead aviation toward a future that is both ecologically friendly and fuel-efficient. This book is a vital resource for academics, researchers, engineers, airline personnel, and decision-makers (governments and regulatory organizations) as it offers a thorough framework that gives an overall view of the aviation industry with regard to fuel usage.
This book showcases Nigerian and South African experiences on space politics, policy and strategy vis-à-vis their development and security aspirations, while contributing to the broader African and the Global-South perspectives on the subject. Space policy in developing countries such as Nigeria and South Africa is motivated by utilitarian promises that space and the attendant technologies have the potential to advance development and security interests of the affected nations. However, several decades into the orbital journey of these countries, little is known of their space politics, policies, strategies, capacities and capabilities, and realisation of desired objectives. Beyond pure and applied sciences reductionism, this book offers social science perspectives on space studies in Africa, as it examines the intricate relationships of historical, geographical, social, demographic, economic, political, administrative, and strategic factors, nationally, regionally and globally thathave shaped research and development of space science and technologies, and their benefits, in Nigeria and South Africa.
This study assumes Space Elevators can and must be built. "Space Elevators: The Green Road to Space," completed in April 2021, emphasizes that Space Elevators will not replace rockets but would join them on parallel paths towards the stars. This Dual Space Access Strategy will carry out the missions that are now planned and ensure the future we dream of becomes a reality. Space Elevators are needed to do the "heavy lifting" for movement off planet. Their transformational characteristics will enable so many of humanity's dreams by moving huge mass to far away destinations.Space Elevator Vision: Space Elevators are the Green Road to Space while they enable humanity's most important missions by moving massive tonnage to GEO and beyond. They accomplish this safely, routinely, inexpensively, efficiently, daily and they are environmentally neutral.
