Cybervetting: on the way to acceptance - Maria Terekhina - Bog

Cybervetting: on the way to acceptanceaf Maria Terekhina
Bag om Cybervetting: on the way to acceptance

This study examines a relatively new phenomenon in Russia - cybervetting - from job seekers¿ perspective. The research incorporates most of the issues and fulfills the gaps present in the previous academic literature on the topic. It addresses the group of people aged 36 and older, previously understudied. The perspective of job seekers rather than employers, previously quite unaddressed as well, is explored in more details. Last, but not least, the actions undertaken by the job seekers¿ as a response to the possibility of being cybervetted and not covered within the previous framework are brought up in the current research. The study does not provide the evidence for existing difference between age groups; however, the attitudes shared by all the respondents towards cybervetting and discovered in this research may be clearly divided into three groups: positive, neutral and undecided. Most importantly, two strategies of managing online space as a response to the possibility of being cybervetted were discovered ¿ preventive and ¿ex-post¿.
