Danish Lights - Malene Lytken - Bog

- 1920 to Now

Bag om Danish Lights

'Danish Lights – 1920 to Now' is part of the new series Compact design classics. 'Danish Lights— 1920 to Now' is the first comprehensive account of Danish lamp design. With the invention of the in candescent light bulb, lighting began to transform private homes, and by 1920 half of Danish homes had been electri fied. Since then, designers such as Poul Henningsen (PH), Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, Olafur Eliasson, Louise Campbell and Cecilie Manz have put Danish lamp design on the world map. The book tells the stories of 100 lamps and the designers who created them. In this engaging narrative, the designers share their thoughts on the interplay of light, design and technology as well as the collaboration with the manufacturer that shaped the design process. The book is richly illustrated with both new and historical photos. The author, Malene Lytken, is a trained designer and art and design historian. Lytken holds a PhD for her dissertation 'Lys og Lamper til de Danske Hjem' (Candles and Lamps in Danish Homes) (2016).
