Discovery on the Kathmandu Trail - Marc J Mailloux - Bog

Bag om Discovery on the Kathmandu Trail

Discovery on the Kathmandu Trail is the story of a young man's adventures through Europe and Asia in search of peace and enlightenment. Restless and dissatisfied in the spiritual bankruptcy of the opulent West, the author embarks on a journey to the oriental lands of mythical serenity and illumination, while attempting to stifle metaphysical anguish with the help of hallucinogenic drugs. Through numerous episodes across sixteen countries, his tale is a modern pilgrimage --a chronicle of one traveler's growing awareness of the providential hand of Him who guides all true seekers to the Great Discovery. Marc was born in 1953 in a French-Canadian Roman Catholic milieu in Woonsocket, Rhode Island where he graduated from high school. After getting involved in hallucinogenic drugs and Oriental mysticism at Georgetown University in 1972, he hitchhiked across Europe and stumbled on Francis Schaeffer's L'Abri Fellowship in Switzerland where his Zen Buddhist convictions were shaken by Os Guinness. He continued on to India where, in April of 1973 in Benares, the Lord dragged him into the Kingdom. Marc settled in France in 1973 where, after a year of preliminary language study at the Sorbonne in Paris, he enrolled at the Reformed Seminary in Aix-en-Provence where he met his wife Aline. They were married in March of 1978 and have been blessed with three children, Calix (1980), Justin (1982), and Anaïs (1984). Marc and Aline worked in France until 1997. His second book, "God Still Loves the French" (2006), is an anecdotal account of some of their experiences in the land of Calvin.
